Haven't ridden since about '99 or so after my last serious accident. Since then I've thought about getting into it again every time nice weather comes around, but for some reason every time I'm about to someone close to me either get's seriously injured or killed. That's kept me off my first love for almost a decade now.
Since your "last" serious accident? Track or street what happened? And how on earth did you let the RC get stolen???
Doesn't matter what you do. If they want your bike bad enough they are going to take it.
I took mine out to Sturgis twice and I was so paranoid that me and my buddy would always have our bikes chained together and never out of our site..but when 4 massive Hells Angels jump out of the back of a moving van, shove 2 metal poles in between the spokes of a bike that is chained up, and hoist it into the back of the truck without even breaking a sweat you realize that the best you can do is make sure your insurance premium is paid up...It is funny that I was so freaked out about getting my bike stolen out there and it gets stolen out of a locked garage instead...
^^did you ever ride to Marcus Dairy in Danbury on Super Sundays? They used to steal a lot of bikes up there too..
yup. I rode there on my sportbikes and on my Harley all the time. It really sucks that they don't have them anymore...well they have them but they are at the CT Convention Center and it is just a bunch of shitty parts and clothes venders inside. Just not the same as it used to be..
yeah they had loads of cool shit at the dairy and dudes with zz top beards selling homemade beef jerky in 75 flavors. All that stuff at the convention center is ass... the bike show sucks. Only show worth going to is at the Javitts anyway and its far too cold in Jan to ride to NY.. speaking of the Javitts the NY Auto show is this week
New to this site but seeing as I know little about my G35 (that I bought today) This was the frst thread I elected to repsond to!

^^dirt guy huh? The 1098 is the sexiest bike to hit the streets since.. well the 916. They TOTALLY missed the boat with the 996 glad they got back to thier roots in the looks dept
@sandman: I had an idiot chic pull a left on me. Let me just say that I know how it feels to fly and unfortunately land too.
Got the RC stolen at my apt. at SC. That was all she wrote.
I know how you feel. my only serious crash came as a result of a guy in a mini van pulling a u-turn.. FROM A PARKING SPOT... in front of the police station.. flight and crash landing here too
i would gladly change my g for a bike... it will have to be a 900 or better tho.. and red... but i wont do it for now... no way since i luv my babyG and he loves me back!!
I know it's a personal thing, but I don't know why Americans like the big motor bikes. I had the opportunity to get my amatuer racing license from AMA back when I started riding. To be honest, I didn't do too much racing, but the course helped me learn how to really ride. It also made me realize that I couldn't take a 400cc bike to it's potential, not even 75% of it. Of course, it's always good to have tq on demand, but I think the reason so many people die/get hurt is due to the fact they're riding too much bike. I got to ride a few 750cc + bikes fitted out for racing on the track and I realized quickly that they were way too much for me and much more than I'd ever need on the street.

I am with you. I hate seeing the 120lb kid on a 1000+cc bike. Everyone has seen them. They are the ones who have to back their bike up on their tippy-toes while leaning to one side slightly. It makes me cringe just thinking about it!...And there are tons of them out there!
The bike is just an extension for alot of guys...
I am 6' & 215ish and I am more comfortable on an R6 than an R1. I feel like I am actually using the bike rather than holding on for dear life...

Not to mention that 600cc bikes these days are way faster and more capable than liter bikes from just a few years ago. It's the Americans like everything big thing. I mean we have this thing with big, so much so, that everyone in America will be a card holding member of Jenny Craig soon. Mark my words.
