Gamma you need to get off your high horse about the Dubyah regime. This sort of stuff has always happened and it always will. You as a history guy should know this (I think you do), you just need to acknowledge it (you don't).
Oh and the turnover.......how about Watergate & Vietnam? Turnover of the highest order.
You need to get rid of your double standard. You bash on Clinton all day long but you cut Dubyah slack? Why? Is it the status quo? Has your tolerance of corruption and incompetence increased? Do you not mind it? Are you resolved and happy that this stuff "has always happened"?
So what about Watergate? Nixon not only should of been impeached, he should of been in jail. Along with the rest of his cronies. If you think that, then we are agreed and you should be mad as hell just like me.

I don't cut either any slack. All I have ever maintained is that Clinton is not a good President and he never had to deal with the troubles dubyah has.
If you feel that every President has always done things (or any ruler of any large/influential country) on the up and up, you are extremely naive.

^^^No, I've always maintained that politics in general is corrupt. Just varying levels of corruption between administrations. I don't think we are more corrupt than any other 3rd world country out there once you reach the white collar level.
Bush had 9/11, but it wasn't the first time the U.S. has been attacked. FDR declared war on Japan and Germany. He didn't declare it against Spain just because there was a grudge. John Pershing went after Pancho Villa across the border, he didn't go all the way to Bolivia for other suspects.
I understand why we have troops in Afghanistan, that makes sense to me. I have never understood, nor do the great majority of US Generals understand, why we are in Iraq.

A FYI on WWII and Pearl Harbor gamma......................in 1941 the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, many died, we all know that. This helped to launch the US into WWII, again we all know that.
2001 attack on the World Trade Center Towers as well as the hijacking of several planes. This helped to launch the US war on terror, again we all know this.
Now here is the kicker, more people died in the 9/11 attacks than on Dec 7th, 1941. I hope this puts into perspective the impact of the 9/11 attacks. Not only did they kill more humans, but the replacement costs for the World Trade Centers, the airplanes, etc. far outweigh the costs of Pearl Harbor.

No, it doesn't. It fact, I would say that the above is just irrelevant. We were attacked, plain and simple so what about a few hundred here or a few hundred over there, or what was hit. Plain and simple.
The real question is how America countered and went on the defense/offense?
