I've got that covered, though I'd rather have something other than a Tanto... Don't like letting 'em get quite that close.

So I saw the movie. It wasnt bad. I think it made him look better than the book did. It made him look like he knew more about what he was doing than he really did. It still pisses me off what he put his family through....and the way he died it was such a waste. The actor that played the old guy that wanted to adopt him was really good. They didn't really show it in the movie but Chris spent a lot of time with him. I think Chris was also mailing him letters.

BTW Mike, if you want to see a real story about an Alaskan adventure, check out this guy: Alone in the Wilderness, the story of Dick Proenneke, by Bob Swerer Productions

He built his own wood cabin in Alaska by hand. He lived there starting in 1968 at age 52, until 1999......31 years. He only left occasionally to visit family. But he built everything he needed by hand....the cabin, a door, wooden hinges, table, bowls, spoons, etc. He filmed himself using a wind-up camera. The documentary is really good. He makes Chris McCandless look like a complete moron.....

I'm glad I didn't waste my time reading the book... although I'm sure it's better than the movie (always is)
