i call BS on this. show me some proof!
there's way too many variables, most especially the design of the road. it really is unsafe to go over 70 on some freeways.

I agree that some highways/freeways cannot support higher speeds safely (either figured on the 85th percentile or on design). However it is flawed to say that higher speeds are going to cause more accidents.

it all depends on how the road was engineered. curves, inclines/declines etc all affect your line of sight. you can't be doing 90 around a blind curve. also, the width of the lanes, number of lanes and length of on/off ramps make a huge difference.

True to the extent of sight lines. However don't forget that inclines/declines make it easier/more difficult to stop vehicles.
A classic example of speed limits not following engineering studies/designs is those roadways on inclines/declines having the same speed limits in both directions.
