Hey guys I don't usually get all serious on this forum, but I'm SERIOUSLY urging all of you to watch this...

Iraq for sale: the profiteers

This is one of the best documentaries I've watched and I urge all of you as partriotic citizens to spend some time to watch it. I think it'll change your perspective about our country and those who are running it.

I sincerely hope that all of you will watch this show. Do it for me, do it because you're a citizen of this nation, do it because you got nothing better to do, but for God's sakes DO IT!!! You won't be dissapointed.

okay. Lets talk about the Fischer esterification mechanism in a general form.

First, lets take a generic example of this mecahnism.



Now, the first step involves protonation of the carbonyl oxygen, followed by the nucleophillic attack of the alcohol.




Then a loss and regain of a proton,



followed by loss of water as electrons from the alcohol oxygen kick down to form the double bond. Loss of a proton yields the ester.

I'm familiar with his work. I've seen the Outfoxed, the story on Rupert Murdoch and the Faux News Network, so I'll probably check this out.

Have you seen No End in Sight? Now there's a movie.
