Didn't get it but was tempted; still want to hold off till the SCAR is released this fall...............
Shot the 556 again this weekend. Still is very front heavy and long and heavy compared to a 16" AR-15 w/quadrails.

556 hated the Silver Bear 62 grain I shot, shot some American Eagle 63 grain soft points, Federal Premium 62 grain, & Black Hills 62 grain match. Everything except the Silver Bear grouped well. I'm sure it will group better if I had more than a 3X optic on it. As far as it goes, with a combat optic (ACOG) there's really no difference in the last 3 sets of ammo I shot except the Black Hills shoots low and right of the Federal and the American Eagle is about dead center.

Didn't get that impression at all, probably due to my shooting of the FAL and M44 which are both longer and heavier.

Not surprised the Silver Bear performed poorly; steel jacketed ammo rarely does well since the casings don't seal as well as brass. I've got some Silver Bear .308 that I haven't shot yet, not really expecting much more than it to go boom when I pull the trigger.

OK coming from the FAL and others yes the Sig isn't too bad. Funny thing is there's this FAL clone that I've handled in a shop down here and the balance just seemed better than the 556, but not as good as the AR-15.

I was discussing the issue with my friend. I should have known it was the steel case, and now I know. I tell you I kept thinking I was shooting really badly until I shot the brass cased ammo...........

You just need to work on that forearm strength some. Then you'll never has problems with front heavy guns. :P

The best thing to be said on the Silver Bear is that it doesn't have a lacquer coating like Wolf does.

Best thing about Silver Bear and Wolf is they are cheap. Damn the cost of ammo is nuts down here.

Just .50cal BMG or .50cal in general? If it's BMG specific you should get a .50cal black powder rifle.

.223 isn't really a good hunting round for things bigger than a coyote; can't remember if the Masada/ACR was to be available in other calibers or not. If its going to have a 6.8SPC or 7.62 variant then it'd be a potential deer hunting rifle.

Shot placement is more important than rate of fire in hunting though so really a good bolt action would be better.

Right now it's 50 BMG...........in the future 416 and all the other large calibers.

They are attacking rifles now which is a switch. I find it "funny" because you can have a 50 cal pistol which is what the politicians usually get all angry about.

I really do believe it's a gateway bill to ban other calibers/firearms.

Well if you listen to the politicians here it's so you can shoot down a plane or blow up a refinery/tank farm.

Get yourself a .50cal BP rifle while you still can! Wonder how much velocity you can get out of a .454 Casull in a .50cal sabot with a near max charge behind it...

I have no doubt it's a stepping stone for them to try and ban other guns/rounds. The politicians are learning that they can so easily ban the gun itself, so they start going after the ammo for various reasons. Attempted OHSA regs on handling/storage/transportation of the powder/primer/bullets both during manufacture and sell. EPA regs on lead content in the bullets for pollution wouldn't surprise me. There's numerous angles they can take to make it more expensive and less convenient if allowed.
