To make a long story short... i downloaded some apps for one of my friends... saved them on my 4GB Sandisk Cruzer U3 USB drive... he takes it home to load onto his laptop running the Vista O/S... plugs it in... prompts him to download a software suite from Sandisk for Vista compatibility...!!

He does this... but then was prompted to format the drive which he didn't (of course)... call & tells me... i say no worries, as apparently it doesn't work w/ Vista (then again... what does)... put it in my XP laptop to copy to DVDRW... it prompts me to format my drive!!

What the f*ck??

We call up Sandisk... to make a long cuss laden story short... i lost the most pertinent data i had... almost 3GB worth of sh*t, now gone... w/ no way to restore (tried the demo they give to see if any files are recoverable)... no dice!!

My heart hurts right now... i feel like crying!!

That whole format drive thing, yeah that's bad when you get the prompt, your friend should have stopped right there. Anyhow, can't you just format it and download again.

It's not the info i had for him i downloaded i am worried about... it's about my other non downloadable files that are/were on there now sentenced to the Abyss... forever!!

Dude why:
1. You only store that stuff on the flash drive, and
2. why you give that to your other Windows noob friend?

anyways, sounds like your friend stuck the drive in and then pulled it out without properly ejecting it. the fact that it is vista doesn't help either.

i say you curse him for causing you to lose your data.

^^^I dunno man, sounds like he downloaded and installed the control suite that all these piece of crap flash drives have now days......and yes sounds like it wasn't ejected properly.

Sucks Neft but u shoulda had it stored else ware just to be sure. Those flash drives aren't exactly the most secure backup option.

you would only need to do that if the cruzer went nuts. is it possible to even delete that? maybe the guy accidentally deleted it, and attempted to make it not obvious...

I dunno man, but a co-worker of mine killed my first Sansdisk flashdrive.

btw neft, I would recommend you use a laptop or a computer that you rarely use as a storage computer.
