Get rid of that U3 crap, that will take care of 99% of your problems right there. I've seen that shit cause all sorts of corruption problems.

i've had mine for nearly 2 years without any problems. never heard of anyone having any problems with them either.
like i said, probably improper eject.

XP, 2003, Vista don't have any problems with you just pulling the drive out (so long as no files are open) w/o going through the eject a device procedure.
OS X however in all it's "wonderfulness" does still have a tendency to crap when you remove a drive w/o ejecting it.

i thought you were referring to the corruption of the files in the cruzer. yes, OS's should not be affected by an improper removal.

just do it, what do you have to lose at this point?
i've actually seen a case in which a floppy disk was corrupt, got reformatted, and magically worked again. although this seemed to have been a miracle, you have nothing to lose.
