So my sister and I bought our parents a new home entertainment system for their anniversary/christmas and it is the most beautiful thing Ive ever laid my eyes on. I havent been on 6mt in a while cause i have just been watching movies and HD programming all day. We got them:
-73 inch Mitsubishi Diamond Series DLP
- Denon HDMI upconverting reciever
- 5.1 Kiplish surround sound w/ sub- good for around 650 W continous and almost 2000 W at max output
- Playstation 3 as a media center
- Dish HD w/ DVR and HD programming
1080P never looked so good before, especially when running Blu-ray films. The best part is that the entire setup cost around 7 grand, which is pretty good considering the size of the TV. I know of only one 73 inch LCD (SONY) and it goes for $33,000.
One huge pain in the ass though, was cables. Freaking Dish network didnt even provide component cables, let alone HDMI with the box.
Altogether, im very happy with the system...anyone considering going HD should definitely do it.
Here I was expecting a nice pistol grip rem870 or mossberg 500 with a 18" and extended mag tube along side a carbine with a collapsible stock...

HEHE...yeah, the parents are starting to wonder if i got it for them or for myself cause i got Lost season 3 on blu-ray and been watching straight for 3 days
I just bought a Sony 40" XBR4.....hot as shit! PS3 games, even only in 720p, look amazing. blu-ray looks ridiculous.
Seriously, i find myself watching whatever channels that come in HD, it doesnt matter what it is, im just so engrossed in how good it looks...simply beautiful

I only have a couple HD channels right now but will be upgrading the cable service soon. You're right though, I pay more attention to how good things look more so than what I'm watching.
