I bought my dell laptop in 2005. However, after having numerous problems and service calls over the years, Dell finally decided to replace my system. Usually they replace your laptop with a refurbished one- but..........
I ended up getting a new lapptop with great parts. Only thing is the ram, but I can upgrade that.
Im going from Intel Celeron M to an Intel Core 2 Duo T7100, 1.80GHz.
thank you dell!

I have two dell computers (desktop and laptop) and I've had 0 issues with them. The desktop I've had since 2001 (its been upgraded along the way) and the laptop is 2 years old.
Ok your mistake was buying a Celeron; things have been crap since day 1!

maybe I was unlucky then. I had motherboards replaced, power cords, etc etc.
It should be all fine now though!

i had a dell inspiron that i just got rid of last month for a VAIO. The thing was only a year old and had to be sent back twice on battery/charging issues. Dell quality has gone so far downhill from what they once were (before the Dude you got a dell commercials). From what I understand they built great computers prior to ~2003, then they got so popular and decided to start sourcing cheaper parts to boost profits through the roof. The result is crappy computers. I have heard of a number of institutions cancelling their contracts with Dell just because of all the issues.
and the customer service is the worst! they're all indians reading prompts - i never ever had a useful CSR when I called in on my laptop.
on the contrary, I bought a Dell desktop in 2002 that has always worked great without any issues. Still just about as good as the day I got it. It's funny that it outlasted the laptop I bought just a year ago...
Old Dells = Great
New Dells = Crap
kinda like Gateway.

unfortunately you're probably in for more of the same. they replace old crappy parts with new crappy parts. i went through 2 batteries and 2 power cords in one year. When they would not replace the 2nd battery under warranty i got rid of it.
