Today's youth is far too jaded for them to care IMO. I hear too many stories about kids getting autographs so they can sell them, the little pieces of shit.

As far as things not being illegal, it's unfortunately part of the game now. It's going to be hard/impossible for the league to ban substances with the designer drugs now. Add to this they need to get backing from the Players Association and I think this will probably never be stopped.

One thing that is not addressed with the public however is the usage of steroids to help players heal. That is a good application for the drugs and somehow MLB needs to sort that away before they can address this situation.

HGH has been illegal (a controlled substance) since 1938. Just because baseball didn't add it to it's list of banned substances til 2005 doesn't really carry much weight with me if the player knowingly obtained illegally (not from a physician).

You ask your trainer to get you a controlled substance that you're doctor won't give you and you know you are breaking federal law. I could give a crap about baseball's banned substance list.

so where are we at with this report? do we not care and think that athletes should just do it openly? do we think of this as a witch hunt? or should we continue with the head in the sand attitude and pretend that this usage does not exist?

excluding the olympics (yeah, right), i'm all for doing it out in the open.

I think it is just a witch hunt. I think that if players want to use a substance to help them out than let them...

I am a bit biased because I was named in the Mitchell report....right at the bottom of page 1

The report means nothing without the backing of MLB, the owners, and most importantly the players. This was basically Selig's thing to get the Senators/Representatives off his ass.

I say make it mandatory to juice. They'll have to check in every 6 months and get a shot. On their balls. If the players say they want to shoot up 10 cc's, then make it 100 cc's. I want to get the maximum fun for my hard earned $$$'s. They make enough to have a 5 year career and still be set for life. Then we'll see who's got the balls enough to say if this is fair or not.

I don't know if you could absorb through the nuts. You'd have to inject the Wang. Which brings up an interesting point which is Chien Ming Wang. Could he get injected anywhere since he's all Wang?
