Okemo is a mountain for tool's.

If you've been there, you know that the place is so hilly, with little challenge. Anyway, they have these signs "please do not jump", but they do that to tempt you. So I jumped, and some ski patrol guy starts flipping the shit.
But........I'm all nice and apologetic, and ski away.

As the day progresses, I go on a chairlift that has a 5-10 foot cliff into a nice run. Since there was 6 inches of snow on the ground, I figured this couldnt hurt. Most of the EC is icey, so I prefer to leap into a steep run and or soft snow, but this was an exception.

I wait for the lift to turn about 90 degrees from the tradition drop off point. The lift operator is like wtf, and slows the lift down. By then, it was too late. I ended up stomping the hell out of this run, and everyone is applauding. Of course, I get to the bottom of the run, and they say "you are done for the day".

because, okemo is all about the family, AKA a bunch of gapers go to Okemo. The good thing is, they offer 50% off lift tickets to college students, so for 34.50, the deal is hard to beat. Killington only charges full retail price, but that is because they are a publicly traded ski resort.

hmmm... surprised you went there then... even with the pricing...

question for you... and this will sound dumb, but i know you are a very good skiier.

what pointers do you have for doing jumps and landing them and mostly for not getting hurt.

i got the balls to try a small one last year... i thought i wasnt going fast enough... but ... well i was.. haha... went flying.. scared the shit out of me.. fell back when i landed - almost had the wind kncoked out of me.. but didnt get hurt.
my buddy watching said i had perfect form until i hit the ground. (i think i got scared)
but anyway.. i want to try it this year.. any pointers for a beginner jumper?

skiing the terrain park? or off of a cliff? Both are different methods.

Learning to ski off a cliff is easier then a terrain park./

if you have a chance to go to VT or some place where there are 1 -2 foot cliffs, learn there. Then bring that technique to the park.

And keep in mind, your skis will dictate how well you can stomp shit too.

I went off of a jump when I was bombing down a hill two years ago. As soon as my board left the snow I see an old guy just standing right where I am going to land. I was just able to avoid hitting him and stuck the landing. I turned my head and yelled WTF? and as soon as I did I caught an edge and fell hard. Yard sale hard. It rang my clock so hard that I had to leave the mountain for the day. I had a splitting headache the whole ride home and I saw stars for about an hour after the fall..I haven't jumped much since...
