^^^what he said, and according to Nissan, the new Skyline GT-R has the second fastest lap time (7 minutes 38 seconds) at famed race track Nurburgring in Germany. Only second to a Porsche Carrera GT.
How many people that buy it will actually take it to the track in germany? or any track here for that matter?
I would still take the GTR over Z06, just because I've never liked the vettes.
I was reading an article about how nissan overpriced this car and it won't sell, but what about Honda selling their NSX for 15 years at the same price? Those cars sell like cupcakes..
The GT-R is going to sell no matter what. People who say they won't sell are either mad because a Nissan is going to be raping there "vehicles" and 2, because it's cheaper than their "vehicles". I definitely don't think the car is overpriced, especially for what you get. This car is the best all around package out right now. AWD, Twin Snails, very unique styling (good on my side), and just so many new things car companies don't even have out yet. It's gonna sellllllll

Just trying to get a nice friendly discussion

and i've tracked my G at Willow Springs, quite a few people have. and when i was there, all I saw were supercars like the Z06, carrera 911s, Lotus, Evos, etc. etc.

the GTR will sell without a doubt.
the NSX sold just fine. --- acura wasnt a well known "luxury" brand when the NSX was out
the S2000 sold just fine. some deem it overpriced for a honda
EVERYONE wants performance for a cheaper alternative to the vettes and porches. Audi jumped on the wagon as well....a lil more expensive but when you are mentioned in the company of ferraris and lambos(which they ownership stake in) you are in good standing.
the GTR is def in that ballpark with porches and vettes in its price point range....

i truly think the GT-R will revolutionize the market. there is going to be a big demand for these cars even from the usually all-american-muscle people. just to see what all the fuss is about.
I agree the GT-R will shake up the market for several reasons, but the "real" questions is... are people ready to pay $80+K for a Nissan? We'll all have to wait and see if that'll hold water. Remember initial sales will obviously be good as the GT-R has lots of fans, but the real question is will Nissan be able to sustain their lofty sales goal numbers?
For the $ the GT-R is a great proposition. It basically provides matching or better performance for 1/2, if not 1/3, the $. So, if the quality, refinement of the car is up to par, then they should have a home run on their hands. On the flip side, I'd wager that the majority of GT-R fans do not possess the funds to purchase a GT-R and from what I've read Nissan has set some high sales goals for the car, so if they'll be able to sell all their cars after the initial fanfare is left to be seen. I personally think they're producing too many GT-R's I think they should have produced less numbers and made it a bit more exclusive.
