As you guys are probably aware, I am working on getting a marketing/advertising business up and running. I have been working on some brochures and just realized that for the cost of getting 5,000 printed up I could buy a new InkJet printer and do them myself (just about)...
I need your advice though... what's good about them (dpi?), what's bad? is it a bad idea to print the brochures on the machine (cost-wise, quality etc)... what I am not sure about is the dpi ratings. i see some that are 600x600 and some 2400x600.
I have always thought ink jets put out pretty nice looking results, hard to differentiate from a true print press. and the ink seems to last fairly long...

I think professional is the way to go. if anything goes wrong then you could send them back and they do it over for free. if you mess them up doint it yourself then you stuck with a batch of bad prints

i the advertising 'product' that i will be putting out will not be printed on this printer. i don't want to give out any details but just think of it as a magazine... has to be sent to a print press.
i would be using the printer to make brochures to promote this 'magazine' to potential advertisers.
my main concern i guess is the quality and look of the final product when printed in color on glossy paper...
