this year i used the lights that road crews use when they are paving the highway at night.

i first started with the icicle lights.... and decided they look like shit.. and that just seems like the trend now... i wanted the "cleaner look".

that was my first plan.... but after checking EVERY store in the area.. it just wouldnt work... lots of problems.... the longest length of a normal LED i could find was 100 bulbs... also MOST are the pure white.. i first considered that, but the gf said HELL NO. the more i thought about it.. i thought yeah, that doesnt really look like christmas... so you have to find the "cool white" lights to look like the normal bulb color... well good luck finding more that 5 packs of 60 in all the stores in my area... plus... it's like $12 just for 60... and you can only string 3 together at a time..... considering i used a few thousand... the cost would be insane. even without the cost problems.. it's just not practical.... maybe in a few more years, the LED thing will work out better... but not yet.
and forgetting all those things.. even if it was easy to do...who knows if i'll even decide to do this again next year.....

good call on not using LEDs... they are still way too expensive and inconvenient. give it a couple years...

for the sidewalk, they make all kinds of sidewalk liner thingies. like candy cans, fake luminaries etc. just line it with something and it will look much better.

well i'll line it with lights.. i'm not doign any gay candy cane things... i was just more concerned of how to do it, since it's elevated concrete.
but i think i can use those garden stakes and do it like that.

well you can't just put the lights on the ground... well i guess you could but that will look weird. go to walmart and look around in the christmas section. theres all kinds of stuff to line the sidewalk/driveway.
