Well if you call tin cans from the 50's, 60's and 70's, I guess it would qualify. At least they're better than the Chinese and Indians. They have such a large standing army many of the soldiers don't even have weapons. So they stand ready in their pajamas and their cows to charge into the battle.

Their armored core of course doesn't match up with a superpower's, no one's does (except maybe Israel), but to write them off is a bit arrogant. Too much faith in high tech is an arrogance that gets US into trouble time and again.

This was a point I was trying to make with Irish way back when. She being in the AF and in intelligence put a lot of stock in high tech. Unless you are bombing someone off the face of the earth sooner or later you need to send in a grunt to clear the towns on the ground, no high tech is going to help you when it degenerates into a house to house deal.

I'll give you that their tanks were no match for ours, but the huge number of tanks is no laughing matter. I don't laugh at the idea of 3 billion Chinese people with one round apiece.

Oh I wouldn't never underestimate the power any weapon. Old or new. Plus I was a ground pounder so I know there isn't a difference between a smart bomb or a dumb bomb when it lands near you. I learned that lesson the hard way when I experienced my first arty/motar attack from people who didn't even know what 2 + 2 was using weapons that weren't even servicable, at best. There is a saying, "a bullet is a bullet is a bullet". You can pretty much substitue whatever you like instead of bullets.

Or do it like it used to be done. Our leader and their leader should have an old fashioned drink off. Or at least a good round of thumb wars. If this tactic was used more often the world would more peace.
