I was on my way to the san diego city college trolley station, eastbound on C street about to cross 10th street. I had a green light, a trolley was coming towards me, so i tried to steer my car away from the trolley of course, when all of a sudden a girl on a bicycle appears from the left, going against the red and the flow of a 1 way street and i smack hit her.
i mean i could almost see the explosion of her stuff in slow motion. she was a big white girl and she had a little basket on the rear of her seat and all that soda and stuff just exploded on the front of my G.
i immediately stopped at the intersection and went to her to ask if she was okay, if she needed a doctor. she got up frightened, rattled, and a little hurt. i said wait right there and i pulled my G into an adjacent parking lot while she was attended to by one Transit security officer and a few transients. one of the transients fixed her bike because when i first saw the wheel, that thing was fucking bent!!! the Transit cop didn't see the accident, she actually thought she was hit by the train but the bicyclist did admit that she rode through the red.
we all asked her if she needed a doctor, if she wanted to go to the hospital to which she said, no, no, no, she just wanted to get home. the one transient got her wheel back in order and put it right back and adjusted the handle bars so they were aligned.
i asked if she lost her food and anything of substance and she said yeah, so i gave her all the cash i had in my wallet. a whopping $27.00. she rode off, and i was there talking with the transit security. i took the security cops name and phone down just in case this girl tried to call Larry H. Parker, but that bicyclist never took down my plates or my I.D. or has any idea of what my car is.
i guess i'm lucky, but hitting someone on a bicycle is no joke. it scared the shit out of me.
ohhh, and my G is all right. no dents, and a couple of scratches and soda spray all over the hood.
fuck, it could of been a lot worse.
but i keep thinking about it and i'm wondering, if i had seen her where would she of gone? the trolley was going parallel to me and she might of been hit by that? or was she trying to beat my car and the trolley at the same time? she was no olympic cyclists, that's for sure.
it actually sounds like a good thing that you hit her. i'd much rather be hit by a car than a trolley. she should have paid you!! glad your g made it out OK... and wow you have some helpful/crafty transients!!

yeah, i don't think i'll get sued. i mean you never know, but the transit security girl knows she was going on the red. she should lose.
if you're going to hit a pedestrian, it's much better to hit a bicyclist over someone who is walking. the bike counts as a vehicle and they have to obide by the same laws as someone in a car... IE they do not have right of way like walking pedestrians do. you'll be fine.

It is very lame bro but that's reality. Plus there are soooo many ambulance chasing, blood sucking leaches (lawyers) out there willing to take these cases which just encourages these people even more to sue.
