I'm of the opinion that we should fix our own homes before we preach what is right and wrong. I know it's cynical of me to think so, but asking for money for kids in Bangladesh is a lot easier and more politically PC than fixing the US homeless/immigration/health care issues.
I'm also wary that a lot of aid to those types of charitable works don't reach the intended persons. In other words I'm concerned that the upper management/governments take too much money and not enough reaches the people.

^^^ I sort of agree GZ here. I do think it's nice that she takes a stand on certain international issues, but what about her personal character? I mean she adopts children from foreign countries, but what about the homeless here? She could have easily adopted children here. Also, it's all nice and good that some celebrities donate to charitable causes, but it's a write off. Their cpa's tell them ok, you've got two choices. You can either pay uncle sam $2 mil this year or you can donate the $2 mil to whatever charity. So you obviously choose to donate and while you're at it you hold a press conference. See what I mean? There are literally tons of millionaires in this nation that donate millions annonimously. Why not take that route?
I don't want to rain on this parade but I've never thought she was all that anyway.
