So in other words, priot to this interview it was just assumed she is an idiot... this just makes if official!!
Was her response stupid, yeah; but c'mon she's at most 19, possibly as young as 15, and most likely in front of her largest audience thus far. When you were that age how do you think you'd have done being put on the spot to do an impromptu speech with no idea what the range of topics could be?

Honestly I would do alot better than stringing together a few words of the english language into a sentence that could hardly be called gibberish.
These girls are not just picked off of the street and thrown up there in 5 minutes. They know that they will be asked questions on one of several topics...the same topics that are asked at EVERY pagent! Something political, something to do with world hunger, the current state of the country, current world issues, etc. They are never asked to split an atom or explain information entrophy. The questions are usually very broad and asked in a way that is open to personal interpretation...They are not brain busters (or usually they are not)
It's obvious she got nervous, she got nervous because she over analyzed the question and then had a complete public breakdown. Nevertheless, she's probably been competing for years and has this sort of public experience. I won't cut her that much slack.
And since i hate beauty pageants, I'll just sit back and laugh like AC Slater did.

^^^ I was about to say the same. Chics that do pagents know this is a part of them. So it's not like she didn't know she was gonna be put on the spot with an unknown question/topic. I'm sure they practice, however they do it, for just such circumstances. She is just a ding bat. If you watch the vid again, she had several chances to save herself, but noooooooooooo. She began to eat her boot, then continued to eat the socks as well as her toes.
I've been put on the spot with random questions on stage before and one cardinal rule they teach you is when you don't have a good answer/come-back you're supposed to stall with, "that's a good question...". Anything but an "ummm" or "hmmm". With a second or two to think you should have a better answer than what she spurted out. I would think that she would have done better even if she burned half her time thinking up a decent answer.
