So I just got a citation for a bogus red light run, basically talked him out of it, but he had already written the ticket. Anyway, long story short, he did not put the price on the back of the ticket, is this ticket valid??
If you got a tix, then it's always valid. Cops have to be accountable for every ticket and turn them in daily. So they courts now have the other half, which means you have been charged for that infraction and you "will" be made accountable to answer for it in court. Good luck DD.

Go to court about it and have the cop agree that it was a mistake and that you didn't really run the light. You could try to talk to the cop beforehand anf tell him you have to take it to courtand see what he will do.

This will almost "never" happen. Cops have a log they have to answer to. A log of how many times they "must" appear in court and how many tickets they supposedly lost. If these numbers get high they can get in trouble. The only thing you could do is contact the cop and see if he would be willing not to appear in court, but again, he could be held accountable for not showing up too.

huh? if your county is like Dade County, then you should've received a panphlet that would indicate the costs of all violations.
this has happened to me, it does not mean you can get out of it easier. they say that you can just call the courthouse and get the total sooo... get a lawyer or something.

Just out of idle curiosity ... why do you think that?
I worked on law enforcement computer systems for multiple states, counties, cities, and the FBI. What one cop has to do has nothing at all to do with what the cop in the next jurisdiction has to do. There is no national standard for cops (at least not one anyone has to follow) - there isn't a national training standard, there isn't a national reporting standard, there isn't a national education standard, ... there isn't a log standard, a written standard, a ticketing standard... Even at the state level, the standards between jurisdictions vary widely ... states do have some minimum standards (I did the computer system for one states Police Officer Training Academy). Big cities that have been sued for millions of dollars for discrimination are going to have different rules than the county yokal that has to get re-elected every 4 years.
One of the big problems the FBI has in collecting national crime statistics is there isn't really a standard or requirement to report them (makes collection tough, I worked on that problem for several years). Plus Sherrif John Boy doesn't want his crime rate compared to Sherrif Buck Wheat in too much detail.
The only thing that HAS to be done with a ticket, is a copy needs to find its way to the court system so the revenue can be recognized.

The ticket is valid without the amount. With some counties and states the cop doesn't know the amount - it may be dependent on something else, or a state trooper may work in more than one county. If you plead guilty and send the send the ticket in, they will return a "bill".
Go to court and plead not guilty. Most of the time the cop doesn't show up anyway, he certainly won't if he thinks he shouldn't have written the ticket.
Look on the ticket for a "DNN" - some cops will write it on the ticket if you argue with them too much, its a note to the prosecutor Do Not Negotiate.
