Dry cleaner wins missing pants case - Yahoo! News
Man what a fuck face. This fucking Judge sued some dry cleaners for over $50 million for some pants. This guy should be fired and disbarred. Luckily some other judge had some common sense and favored the cleaners. I'm so tired of these fraudulent suits.
And think how much money the poor cleaners had to spend to defend themselves. I really don't think the judge expected to win, I think his whole suit against them was to punish them by making them spend thousands of dollars on lawyer fees.
Too bad all the dry cleaners won't stick together in that town and ban him from their stores.

The story said "tens of thousands" of dollars.
It's sad that the American population look at law suits like the lottery. There needs to be some kind of penalty for these types of lawsuits. How the hell did this ever get beyond small claims court?

Like you guys already said. This a**hole wasn't looking to win $50 mil. He was just doing this because...
1. He's a judge so he knows how to work the law in his favor
2. Already knew that this would cost the business owner lots of $$$
3. Knew this would get back at the business
4. There isn't much for the defandent to do but spend $$$ to fight the case
This is a primary reason why I believe they should change the law so that most, if not all, frivolous law suits get's thrown out before it leads to wasted time and $$$.
I've been involved in a few of these "types" of cases. I've just been lucky enough that I have a lots of friends who are lawyers that'll work for a night on the town. Which usually isn't cheap but compared to the months of work they put in for my case, it was the bargain of the century.

What would you have done??? Hurt him with bad language??? He's a judge! He'd have made your life like it was back in the slavery days in a heartbeat. Sucks but that is the way the world goes sometimes.

Technically, yes judges do need to be elected but how in the world would you make him do anything he doesn't want to? He's a judge. Unfortunately, judges can pretty much do anything they want.

Uhm, i think in jail i'b be the one getting done... no thanks!!
Well, that's what I'm saying. Here in one of LA's county courts a friend of mine who got busted for fighting and being drunk in public pissed off this lady commissioner. Not even a "real" judge. She had him spend 3 1/2 months in jail because his file had gotten "lost" after the hearing. His request for bail also got "lost" too somehow. Long story short, don't piss off any judges. They seriously can make your life miserable. He and his bro, who is actually an Assistant Dist. Attorney in Los Angeles tried to file some complaint regarding the situation and the commissioner. Guess what happened. It got thrown out because there is no "proof" of misconduct and his bro got transferrered to Downey court. Which from what I hear, is where the second rate ADA's get thrown to. So you be the judge, but if I were you I'd steer clear of any judges.
