I think a christmas story was a better movie overall, but christmas vacation was funnier.

a christmas story is more nostalgic, i think we all have our favorite scenes that we can watch over and over again. we all can empathize with this kid too, regardless of race or sex. we wanted something for xmas and we knew one parent wouldn't approve, so we did our weasely best to con the other one into getting it for us.

a christmas vacation was funny, but i think i've only seen that once, maybe twice.

^^^ I agree, this film was so good because most guys can empathize with what the character was going thru as a little boy, even if you didn't grow up in the 50's. Most of us have probably stayed up late at night at some point in our lives trying to figure out a way to convince their parents to get them that really cool present you want.

I saw the news coverage of the accident yesterday morning before they'd released the names of the people involved. It was a NASTY looking accident and reminds me of what my dad used to tell me when I was a teenager: "Good things rarely happen at 2 in the morning".

RIP

"I triple dog dare you"

Such a classic scene. Really a shame what happened.

Drunk drivers ... It never seems fair when they kill someone and yet they end up surviving.

Always tragic, no matter who befalls this un necessary death. Strap the drunk driver to a cold, damp dungeon board and force-feed him the cheapest, perpetual-hangover-guaranteed Strawberry Ripple foie-gras goose style until he goes mad or his own liver explodes. Then show the film to elementary school kids 'reefer madness' style.

I heard the same mantra, now preach it to my own kids. Funny how that happens.
