I agree with 9 of the choices, but I think #10 is lame.
John Woo could of easily hit this list two or three times. Hard Boiled had two awesome scenes in it, and the Killer has a couple of other good scenes, e.g. the opening hit. John Woo's films have never been the same since he left Hong Kong and started doing Hollywood films. Such a shame.
Rodriguez's El Mariachi was better than Desperado and could of easily made the cut too.
#8 is also one of my all time favorite movies, but the score by James Horner has a lot to do with it. That whole scene, including the build up to that scene, still makes my heart beat faster and makes the hair stand up.
I saw your post and thought "Heat better be on that list!" and it was.....good list overall though.
If there was a "most realistic" award, Heat would take top honors. When the North Hollywood bank robbery occurred, every person out there said it was reminiscent of the movie Heat. Yup, Michael Mann is a badass director.
1. Scarface - Hard to beat
2. Hard Boiled - No to anything John Woo because he can't count the friggen catridges.
3. Desperado - A bit too hokey, but entertaining.
4. Heat - This is the ultimate in urban gunfights.
5. Saving Private Ryan - Yes to the whole movie.
6. The Matrix - Neat for the specX, but it's not really all that special.
7. The Wild Bunch - Yeayuh!!!
8. Glory - Too Hollywoodish.
9. Tombstone - It's better than the one with Costner.
10. The Boondock Saints - Bleh.

3. Desperado - A bit too hokey, but entertaining.
4. Heat - This is the ultimate in urban gunfights.
5. Saving Private Ryan - Yes to the whole movie.
6. The Matrix - Neat for the specX, but it's not really all that special. One of the better action films to date.
7. The Wild Bunch - Yeayuh!!!
8. Glory - Too Hollywoodish BOOOOOOOOOOOOH!
9. Tombstone - It's better than the one with Costner.
10. The Boondock Saints - Bleh.
With regards to this list, you are so picky, you're like Neft in the hot chicks thread. No offense Neft.
#2: John Woo has a handgun putting out something just shy of a million shots, then the actor reloads after shooting one or two rounds? Idiotic I say.
How about the down and dirty of Unforgiven? Now that's what it's like man. The guy with nerves of steel is the one who comes out on top.
#6: Hey it's the Star Wars of the new generation. It's got incredible special effects, but in and of itself it's not necessarily a great film. Hey if Neo moves as quickly as an Agent all those security guards would have been toast inside of 30 seconds.
#8: What's up with all the smokeless powder? There should have been a sheet of smoke. What about reload times? I only saw one guy reloading and he's the idiot who is charging a dug in position, uphill, with a pistol.

You're more of a gun nut than I am Such skepticism when it comes to Hollywood. Uhhh, hello, it's Hollywood! I appreciate the Director's style more than realism in these movies. John Woo's sequences were a form of art. Almost revolutionary, for I never saw anything like that before.
^^^Sorry, but the stupid stuff bugs me. Now mind you if they know it's stupid and film it that way I'm OK with it.
However take Pearl Harbor..............a plane flies between two ships (with straight bows that did not exist) and they do not shoot the other ship with AA despite all the shots missing the plane? Poor, poor, poor direction and scripting.
