Default Yes or no? 30K check up is too soon

for drive belts to be dry rotted/worn to the point where they need to be replaced?

It just made me grumpy yesterday, ya know? But it is only the third thing to go wrong in three years. First the bulletin on the axles, second the gas tank float is and always will be a pos.

Howdy doody Susie!

3 years is a bit premature IMHO to have the belts worn out. I'd bitch (or bat your eyes) and play the warranty card on the dealer. Best of luck.

They did the 30K with the replacement yesterday for 866.00. But it should have been like 729.00 minus the cute girl discount which took it down to 703.00.

Perhaps you are correct and I should have asked for the belts to inspect...in a little jar maybe like a gall stone.

WOW that is a lot of money. What did they do to your car? My 30K was done last summer and it came to $300, the things that I took care of myself before bringing the car for the 30K maintenance were: changing the front and rear break-pads and an alignment.

Hmmm.......a fair price by dealer standards for the work done.

LC, what else did they do to the car?

Usually you don't need belt work until 60k. $700+ is a lotta money! Did you get extra services like a flush or anything?

There might have been flushes...the list was pretty long and I was too grumpy to read it twice because I noticed brakes 4mm and 5 mm.

Why would I trust my car dealer, oh why?

I replaced my belts at about 20k but I abuse the car and the heat out here is brutal. The rest of the 30k work I did myself.

Susie, you need to start dating one of the service writers, he can get you some good deals.

I'm at 29,900 right now and I only plan to do an oil change and inspect everything else.

I'll save the coalant, tranny and differential fluids for 60k

I do everything I can on my own. I let the dealer do two oil changes, and at 45$ each, I'm going to be doing them myself from now on. I'm planning on my first one on my own sometime in the coming week.

Make sure you buy the crush washer. It needs to be changed when you pull the plug.
