Default Stuff like this pisses me off.

Traffic cameras. No one wants them. They are really only serving the State/Counties by collecting money. Why does this crap get resurrected when the overwhelming majority of the people not want them?

Do you guys have traffic cameras in your areas?

House members passed House Bill 351, which authorizes the counties to carry out a red-light traffic camera system. The action comes five years after lawmakers killed a controversial program to catch speeders with cameras mounted in vans.

I thought L.A. was the capital of these sort of photo-cop shenanigans. West L.A./Beverly Hills/West Hollywood has tons of them. They had them for years.

I hate these people. In every single town, in every single state the same issues come up. The lawmakers ignore the issues every time. These cameras are overturned every time.

There are so many other means to slow traffic down that are not explored. Traffic humps and turnabouts aren't used, but for some reason revenue generating cameras are employed.

To be fair the jaywalkers should also be ticketed as they contribute to the "problem also." This country is turning into a police state.

Well what's driving it down here is always linked to "safety." However without seeing the data that the police have, it's hard to say what the actual cause of the accident is.

We just had a pedestrian death down here. Pedestrian is 92, the driver of the car was 80. WTF do they think the cause was? Adjust the damned system, the people down here shouldn't be driving if they cannot do the job physically. Sorry, but that's the way it is.

It seems like everything is blamed on speed (or alcohol), but I have a suspicion that much of it is not actually speed related, but categorized so to meet political agendas. The PD down here still feed the bs to the people that there are no quotas, yet you talk to the actual officers and they confirm, yup the Sarge said we need to........

^^^The lawmakers are idiots. Before this was implemented last time the company who was awarded the contract brought up these same issues. The lawmakers didn't listen, the system was implemented, the system was overturned, and the contractor was paid off. Who do you think footed the bill for the contractor? Yup it was the taxpayer.

In addition the contractor was paid on a per ticket basis............hmmm, you mean the more we ticket the more we get paid? Wow.

It really angers me because these cameras are a thinly veiled excuse for additional taxation. It's beyond me how these dunces don't listen to their constituents, don't listen to the lawyers, don't listen to the engineers, and don't listen to the company who will administer the program. It's madness.

They have them in Philly.....not many though.

If you don't run red lights, then you have nothing to worry about.

BS, what happens when it gets expanded? Red lights are not enough it's good for speeders too, let's expand it for that.

What about the guy that runs the light and you get photo-ed in the intersection because some idiot just snaked you and stuck you there? What about the light turning yellow............should you hop the brakes hard and get hit by the car in the back?

How about guys that gridlock the intersection? Shouldn't that be ticketed too?

Do you see the problems here? What is said is different from what the reality is. This is a bad idea.

Well it determines fault, but it doesn't address mitigating circumstances, such as you going through an intersection to clear way for an ambulance. If it's several weeks down the road, can you state for a fact what the license plate of the ambulance was?

The cameras cannot also tell if you are the person driving the car. It tickets the car. What about that friggen blinding flash? If it's at night you could get blinded and whack something. I tell you what, I've seen it go off during the daytime here and I had trouble seeing (during the day!!!).
