With an officer there is 100% assuredness that you get the ticket and court information (although it seems like the officers are unable to comprehend how to correctly fill out a ticket). No such guarantees with a ticket sent by mail. Unless it's registered mail, they cannot prove you got the ticket.

Anywho it will all hit the fan when you need to re-register the car.

Yup and it takes time to check. This way the company just issues the ticket and gets paid. It's up to the Govt to follow up on each and every ticket issued. Sweet deal for the contractor, but there's a lot of legal wrangling.

Also, since the car's registered owner is ticketed, you shouldn't automatically be sent the ticket. It could be your husband, wife, son, daughter, mom, dad, aunty, uncle, niece, nephew, or friend driving the car.

The ultimate ticket - You run the red light. You have a dog. The dog is in your lap. At the appropriate time, you bend over to pick something up off the passenger seat. The dog is photographed. Let the Govt try and ticket the dog.

Ah, you've touched on another fault of the cameras. They send the ticket to the registered owner. Not the actual person who may have been driving your car. So what does that mean? Well, start borrowing the car of the person you hate most and start running red lights all over town.

Not if a cop pulls you over after witnessing you run the red and the circumstances surrounding it. The camera assumes you are guilty purely by the fact you are in the intersection.

I mean for any crime you are always guilty until proven innocent. Why else would they lock you up while you wait for your trial.

they dont. after being locked up, you have 48 hours maximum to see a judge. most of the times, if you dont see a judge by then, they will dismiss your case.
