Default Costa Rica

has anyone been there... i've been itching to go somewhere for a weekend.. and now that the eagles lost.. i'm going. looks like 2 weekend away... like the 27th. leave sat morning come back monday night.
i was originally gonna goto Alaska (love it there) but now i'm 95% certain on Costa Rica.. i've never been there.

i can fly cheap ($160 round trip) so going for the weekend isn't a bad deal for me. found what looks to be a decent hotel for a decent price ($180/2 nights w/tax)
planning on spending one day going to rain forests and all... and the portion of the other 2 on the beach. anyone know about locations and all and where is best to stay/go?

this is the hotel i'm looking at:
http://www.expedia.com/pub/agent.dll...=1168819395375&

figured.. can't beat that price...

i've been there on several ocassions.

i recommend you be careful late at night, there is a lot of crime especially directed towards tourists. you have to arrive in san jose, there are no other airports in the area. i recommend you go to a volcano named irazu. it's a great view (if it's not too cloudy). the only problem is that you're going to need some kind of a local tour guide to take you around. i remember my family and I were able to spend the whole day with a tourist guide for about $200, so it's not all that expensive. especially considering the fact that they cover the gas, and they go anywhere you'd like. i dont know if you're any bit religious, but there is a special fountain in a small town outside of san jose. i cant remember the name just now, but there is a running stream of water that comes from the mountains. it is said that it is the purist water any human can make. what makes it so baffling is the fact that it's all natural.

there is also a famous amusement park that has the actual dinosaurs that were used for jurassic park. dont know if you recall, but the movie was filmed in costa rica, and then the dinosaurs were donated to this park. last time i went, the dinosaurs had been removed for maintainenance, hopefully you will have better luck.

as far as nightlife goes, all the clubs are awesome, just make sure you avoid the ghetto regions of the city. there is one specific gentlemen's club that i went to, and i actually became pretty popular at.

most importantly, there are tons and tons of beautiful women in that country. WOW you have to find a local girl to take around with you, especially since you dont speak any spanish. trust me on this one man, you're going to need translators.

wow... i didn't knwo the spanish was so heavy there... i know my basics and can figure stuff out... but by all means, i don't "speak" it.

do i really need a tour guide? i was planning on renting a car... i've been to over 10 different islands and never use tour guides. just like to explore on my own.
either way i'm gonna have to really reearch on where to go and not to go.

dude, it's in smack middle of latin america, how could you think spanish is NOT a major influence there

shit, even puerto rico has a mostly spanish only speaking population.

anyways, no, you dont really need a tour guide, but it would help especially since you dont speak the language.

after talking to some other people at work.. i don't think i'm gonna stay in san jose... its not near anything.. just a city. i want to be near a beach or rainforest (or both) so i gotta find a new place to stay.

My coworker went a while back. She was attacked by a cat. She needed to get rabies shots.

what's so special about being in a rain forest?

of course san jose is just a city. it's the capital, most capitals in latin america are the biggest city in their countries.
