Just seeing how the new jobby job is working out. I got an offer from my old company the other day- a really good offer but am perplexed what to do. Anyway, just wanted to see how San Diego and the new gig is working out for ya.

At the moment, I'm out in El Centro/Imperial Valley, California which is about as remote as it gets. My new job requires that I learn the ropes of Mortgage lending by being out in the suburbs where there was a huge boom with local new tract housing. I'm working out of Greenlight financial's office, but I'm not a paid employee by them. As a favor to my brother, they are training me. In return, they'll get first dibs at loans from my brother's company (Pacific Century Homes).
This place is so fucking desolate. It truly feels that I'm out in the middle of nowhere.
Now, the mortgage lending game is truly an eye opener. I've bought and sold homes before, but now learning the matrices, the clients, the way you do business etc etc is so useful and really good to know. I'm looking forward to opening shop with my brother later on.
It's my second week out here and I'm going back to L.A. this weekend. I never was soo homesick. In L.A. I don't have time to kickback since I have to work on wedding plans.
Anyways, thanks for asking. Despite my remoteness, I'm so glad to get out of my former job. My zeal is back and I'm learning fast. I can't wait to really make some big time money!

Very cool (except for the desolate place you're staying in). It is crazy how much you learn about the lending world and what even the most saavy investors don't about borrowing money. This knowledge has helped me out tremendously in my personal finance. I got a couple tricks up my sleeve on how to make some "free" money when you refi your own house too.... Anyway keep us updated.
I've got a big decision to make regarding my current lending employer and my own real estate company. My old firm made some big changes and want me back- 20% pay bump in my split with an upfront signing bonus and ownership in both the mortgage and real estate companies. The only thing that is still holding me back is that I don't feel like I've been with this company long enough to give them a fair shake. Money talks and I'm listening though.
Good Luck in your training!!!
