Looks like Ya'll are a little ahead of me in aviation. I just got the endorsement to take the written for my private today. Hopefully I'll have my private by next week. I go to school at a place called Mountian View College in Texas, they have an aviation program there. I hope I'll be finished with my associates in aviation, and building hours as a CFI this time next year. I want to get a bachelors in something (dont know what), then maybe join the AF at about 27. I hope 27 Isn't too old. My long term goal is to fly for an airline in my early 30's....That sound possible? Know of anything that might speed up the process?

Get your CFI asap and then stay in school until you get your BA or BS. You only have till about 29 1/2 before you will require a waiver to become an AF pilot. Logon to raptorpilot.com and ask any questions you may have. There is a lot of other individuals that may have taken a similar path such as you have.

Good to see a fellow rider and bluesuiter out there.[thmsup] I did 11 years in the AF as an avionics technician. I just started riding last year and yes, the MSF is a must. Here is a recent shot of me having some fun at LVMS:

I like chasing bikes through the twisties in my car. I can give the 600cc bikes a good run for their money. The bigger bikes I have too work hard at it to keep up with them. One guy liked my driving so well he put me up on his biker website.

I've been wanting to get out there to try out LVMS. I hear it's great. I love riding the track, there's almost nothing like it.

I used to do avionics on the F-16 for 6+ years in the ANG.

Whenever you come out this way for a weapons school or a "flag", you might consider bringing your bike out here. LVMS is a stone's throw from Nellis. With the limited amount of twisties here in the Vegas area, the track is where it's at. [thmsup] Now I'm seriously considering taking the G35C out to a driver's school. [boink]

It's hard to see in the photo, however, my left knee is touching the inside of the car door as I blast this curve.

27 isnt' too old but it's getting there if you want a career as a pilot. Get that BS soon. Flying for an airline in your early 30's is pretty much out of the question. If you do get a pilot slot for the AF, you will incur a 10 year commitment. So basically if you graduate pilot training at 28 they will have you till 38 then you can retire. This is barring that you don't get hooked up with Palace Chase, method to cut your active duty commitment short and finish up in the Air national guard. However it's a tough program to get into. Even if you do, there are so many pilot on furlough (cut by the airlines due to shortages) that those guys will probably have first dibs to get back into the cockpit of the airliners once the economy picks back up and the flood gates open, those guys and all the Majors and LtCol's that have been sticking it out in the AF because the job market is crap.

Good luck
