Gamma - BTW you are easy to wind up. Kinda like my friend Troy who winds his friend Aaron up by talking about the native americans. (Aaron feels that they didn't have proper legal representation, Troy feels that they should not have sold their land for a bunch of glass beads)

I don't even know what the whole argument is about anymore...some people can say it and others just can't. If you feel this is unfair then oh well, life isn't fair. I'm latin and I don't get offended if someone calls me something stupid....i'll just laugh at it whereas someone else call them racist or stereotypical. I hate going into the whole racist BS. If you don't like spanish people then suck a dick and get the f*ck outta my way faggot ass muthaf*cka! Peace

... they're words people, no need to get offended... someone calls me a nigger, ok... is that the extent of your wordplay?? Should i get up in arms & retaliate in kind or worse... all that does is empower the words, or should i take it as a slight against my people & get offended?? For what... i'd rather take a nap, seems like to much work for nothing... all any of that would do is commission the word... *yawn*, whatever!!
& if that is the case, should i be salt when a white person is called a cracker?? One of my granny's & one of my granddaddy's is white, or should i also be bitter when a Chinese person is referred to as a chink because my great-grandfather was Chinese... ??
i personally don't give a f*ck, people are going to be people regardless of whether you get you care or not, & they won't lose sleep over it & neither will i!!
... i'd rather focus my attention on the more important things in life... like Ggirl's Laser Red Lingerie collection!!
c'mon... "double standards" my ass. that is so chilidish to say....
anyone with half a brain should know the difference between someone saying "nigga" and a white person calling a black person a "nigger"
if you don't, you're an idiot...
and c'mon "nigga" is such a joiking word nowadays.. even white people say it (not saying they should but they do...)
i've caught myself saying "cracker" to my other white friends... but this is all fun and games....
some people are too serious.... but umm yeah .. so i got that goin' for me...

For all those who say Michael Richards is racist for saying the "N Word," Damon Wayons got fined and banned from a comedy club for saying the "N Word."
Where all you PC people now? Why isn't Wayons a racist? (And no I don't think he is, but according to you guys earlier, he should be)
ok. first of all, the two questions posed in this post are, as respectfully as can possibly be said, the dumbest questions i've heard asked of anyone in a long time. are you serious?
i'll preface this by saying i'm black, yet i grew up in a very diverse community. yes, all of our parents did pretty well, and we came from educated families for the most part, but nevertheless, we were a diverse group. in hs, and to this day, my friends and girlfriends were and have been a mixed bag of races, and i remember that word being tossed around very frequently by every race i've encountered without anyone getting mad. i do, however, remember one time when it was said by someone to me around the same age, and it made me so mad i wanted to destroy them. i gaurantee you that everyone in this forum wasn't the type to let "words" always roll off their back. there is something about everyone here that, if brought up the wrong way, will and has set you off to the point where you won't know how to handle shit. i don't care who you are. if not, you don't don't know what pride and love for anything are.
so, for the mass of you who say words are meaningless without action, you're fooling yourself. quit trying to be tough. we all have something.
with that being said, my race is important to me, as any white, chinese, japanese, indian, mexican, etc's race should be to them. when my best friend, who happens to be white, is riding in my car, and he's rapping along to a biggie song that he likes, and he hears the word, "nigga," i don't expect him to cut himself off. when you cross the line, and you use the word to hurt me, i have a problem. that's when i have to chop your ass down with a quickness and let you know that you are to NEVER go there under any circumstances with me.
i always find it funny when i'm dating a girl and she hears "nigga" in a song(usually "damn it feels good to be a gangsta." thanks office space and the ghetto boys), and she's used to saying it every time she's in her car alone. that first time is always funny for me 'cause i laugh and tell her it's ok. if she ever came at me and said, "you stupid nigger...y'all are always doing...," and she started to use it to cut me down, we're done.
i pretty much equate it to my pride in my country. i'm from america, and i'll be damned if you disrespect my flag, my national anthem, my customs, language, etc. in college i met a lot of people who'd recently moved to the US for educational and/or familial reasons who got into serious arguments with me about how great their countries were(mostly french people). they got on my damned nerves, but i had so much more respect for them than the guy who couldn't tell me how many stripes were on our flag.
lastly, i'd like to hit the comedians for a sec. let's take chappelle vs richards. f wayans. he's weak in the laugh game right now. i just watched a skit where there was a family called the "niggars" who's last name, on the surface, was used to snipe at common stereotypes of black people. watch it. then rewind it and watch it with the degree you got from whatever university claims to have taught you something. what's he doing? you're laughing, but why? what makes those things funny? for black people, look in the mirror. are they true? do you help perpetuate them? for whites, and everyone else, do you believe these things about blacks? better yet, are they you? moreso, are we all falling for bs stereotypes and imitiating them to different degrees at times as an entire society? why, 50 years after this shit was supposedly stopped, are we still at this point? why do you think he quit? what would you personally compromise for 50 mil? once it gets to the point where it touches your concience, and "its" ability(think about that) is being abused, is it worth it?
vs richards
this clown gets on stage and...well...we all know what he did and said. deplorable is a weak word in reference to what came out of his mouth. sure, technically, he used the same word as dave had, but there are a lot of words that can be understood and reacted upon based on that understanding in many different ways. dictionaries aren't as thick as they are 'cause the english language is that complicated. it's as thick as it is 'cause alomst every word means more than one thing. richards used the word the wrong way. plain and simple. if he's on stage joking, or if he's my boy, and he walks up to me and says, "what's up nigga?," i won't punch him in his throat, or better yet, sue his ass since he's rich and that's what americans do right? we're also supposedly fat, lazy, greedy, imperialistic, selfish, etc. how do you like those stereotypes? talk to a super patriotic Brit. good luck.
i don't know about you, but if a frenchie said that shit to me, it's on.
i love everybody. hell, my girlfriend's hispanic. i only really dislike people of all races, especially old asian ladies(sorry to the asian people in the forum) who can't drive, illegal immigrants, unfortunately mostly mexican, who drive around TX with no insurance, and those coward bitches who hurt one of my boys very badly in Iraq...whatever race they are.

So are you now a racist too since you aren't Jewish, Korean, or Mexican and use those words? Words are just words, people empower them by running around like chickens with their heads lopped off. In Hawaii, I as a Japanese guy can call a Samoan a sole and not have to worry about getting my head ripped off, or a Hawaiian a moke. Doesn't make me racist, but then again we don't isolate ourselves in Japantown, Koreatown, Chinatown, Whitemantown...........
I don't isolate myself either. In fact, I own L.A.

No. I don't follow it up with saying 50 years ago we'd a hung you and stuck a fork up your ass. Like you said it was the context in which the way it was used. Pretend he didn't use the N word at all, I would still be offended by what he said because of the context of the way he said it. That's why I call him a racist.

I say once they are paid off, I should get their work addresses so I can go over to where they are working and heckle them.
The new way to make money in America is to either sell drugs or sue for it.
Standup comedians are heckled all the time. Like I said in the previous thread about this, good comedians know how to deal with hecklers. Richards is not a good comedian. I suspect he's an intermediate at stand-up comedy. He had a complete meltdown and his subconscious started speaking for him.
I could give a rat's ass if he's sued or not, but I suspect he won't be after all the apologizing/damage control he did.

I was never wound up about this topic, but I think I do have a well rounded opinion about it and finally, this forum is discussing something with intellectual and socio-economic merit.

You are entitled to your opinion and even though you are stating that I posed the stupidest questions you’ve ever heard, I’m not angry at you. You are entitled to your opinion by the Constitution of this country and I firmly believe that. You just need to acknowledge that a double standard exists and unless that is recognized you should not cast stones. The same standard does not equally apply to all races in the US, that is a fact.

I agree with you to a point. However the things that bother me and someone else will always be different. We can get angry that is our right as afforded by the Constitution, but at what point does something become censorship? Just because we don’t like something should it be censored? It already bothers me that schools ban certain works of literature (Catcher in the Rye is a good example) because some PC guy doesn’t agree with what’s being said. If you don’t like what someone is saying fine, but don’t censor them.

Who makes that determination? For you it’s OK because you know the guy, but what if some stranger down the street has issues with it? Say he comes out and calls your friend a bigot and a racist? Are you going to back the stranger or your friend? I’d bet you go with your friend and just because he uses terminology that other people feels is racist does it make him one?

I don’t really understand what question is really being posed here. Is it did Chappelle sell out for money? I thought he stepped out of his Comedy Central contract because of creative differences with the producers? If so, then no, he is not selling out for money. Regardless of it’s funny or not, Chappelle’s got his opinion and right to say it. If you don’t like what he has to say, change the channel. BTW the skit where Chappelle used music as a way to parody the races (blacks for beats, whites for guitars, etc.), is it OK or does that disturb you? I’m just trying to see if you’d say F-Chappelle because he’s racist. Come on man it was funny. Yes he’s poking fun at different races, but it doesn’t make him a racist.

So what’s the point here, it’s OK for Damon to use the word or not? We all know he was joking and not racist, so you going to fight for his fine and 3 month suspension to be lifted?

I don’t put much thought into what a Frenchie would say. I really don’t care too much about what someone I don’t respect says to me because their opinion means nothing to me. Hell, any country of people who roll over not once, but twice then diss the people who save their asses, doesn’t mean too much to me (except Jean Van Develde because he’s a man for going down in flames at the British Open…………and Jean Reno…….but he’s really Moroccan so I don’t really think of him as a French guy).
BTW aren’t you racist for thinking all old asian ladies are poor drivers? (The truth is the young ones are probably worse). Anywho, always good to flex the old noodle here in this forum since I play with Hexx and Smoke a lot and we all know how that goes.
Finally it is intriguing how much your view on this matter is different than that of neft.

But the point everyone seems to be implying is that the KKK and southern racists in general did this. If you look objectively at what was said, it plainly makes no sense. It really looks like he's a poor standup or really out of practice and his comeback was weak and poorly chosen.

I seriously doubt this. He is going to get sued and settle out of court. I would not be too surprised if the guys who did the heckling did not want this type of result. Keep your eyes peeled, if they did not get a lawyer already, they will. The bloodsuckers will come in and tempt those guys with gifts of fame and fortune, it is their chance for 15 minutes of fame with a big payout.
