well i'm not sure about the AT in the G, but i know that the AT in the eclipse can handle more compared to the 5MT. the MT was mitsubishi while the AT was chrysler, made a big difference.
I thought you could squeeze more out of the TT's. of course I dont know anything about FI....but thats what I was thinking
it all depends. when it comes to Turbo, you can make HP out of nothing. that's why you see all these eclipses, civics, miatas, and other 4 cylinder cars with turbos. that's the biggest advantage with a turbo, the fact that they bring a lot of power to any car.
now with SC, it takes HP to make HP. that's why you tend to only see SC's on cars with big engine. the biggest advantage to a SC is the fact that it has no lag in power, it's constant power to the engine. in contrast, you have to wait for turbo's to spool up. the bigger the turbo, the bigger the lag.

thanks....yeah I know that kind of stuff...turbos work from exhaust....sc from a belt...that kind of shit....i just thought that with the TT's you could get more power from them then a single sc.
The thing I don't like about SC's is that they are loud. That whiny noise that they make is annoying. I have heard a couple of G's with Vortec SC's on them and the noise the SC makes really can get on your nerves after a while. Turbos are much more quiet and you can definitely extract more power out of them. Yes, there is a little bit of lag but if you get the right set up, it should be minimal.

well I've driven in dudes car and TT's are a lot of fun....when they kick in you better hold on tight I would think the SC whine would get on my nerves too. i like the vrmmmmm....pshhhhhhhh

Yeah, the sound of the blow off valves is pretty sweet.

its stupid
the turbos can squeze more power...but all the turbo guys who up their boost to excede the S/C guys blow their motors...so I dont see the point..
you cant push anything more than 420 whp out of the VQ35 with out major motor modifications or reliability issues.
I dont know what the point is in buying turbos that could handle 900hp but bolting them on to a motor that could only handle half that
if you get a turbo kit, leave it at the kit's boost - - dont "tune" it. people with vortechs can push 400 hp just as easily as the turbos. the turbos could push more...but for how long?
if you have a beater, knock yourself out.

yeah but he's running at very low PSI (last time i heard).
what about tinman?
I'm running 6.5 - 8 psi, right at my kits engineered range. It's quite another story to be trying to run in the 12+ psi range. Definitely would need to go with a fully built bottom end.........major retooling.

Neal, very few kits come with a "tune." Even my APS has a generic tune, but due to small variations with engines & environment, you should always get a custom tune to assure you are running within the intended parameters. TN had issues with their single T's straight out and the reflash proved to be problematic, they now include fuel management systems. Without one, you are asking for problems irregardless of if you have a Nissan, Toyota, Ford, or Chevy motor, period.
Vortechs do not easily push 400 whp when compared to a T or TT setup. As Smoke is saying, there is no parasitic loss like a SC with turbo setups.
One item that is always overlooked is driver tendencies. How you drive determines a lot on how long your engine lasts. Drive like a moron and even with a good tune you could damage your engine.
