We are adopting a new cat from Paw Placement tonight....just to let all you know, get a rescued animal, don't buy one in a pet store! ...I am nervous as hell, since we are leaving town for a week, but will have my sis staying here taking care of "Pinky" (I did not name her). My wife is nervous about the furniture since she has claws, but we got the "no scratch" spray and a good scratch mat for her, declawing is too cruel, how would you like to have all your fingers cut off at the 1st knuckle? That is how it's done. Pinky is 6 mos old, black and tan tortie, spayed and shots, $95 donation. I've already spent $100 on supplies! If you are in AZ and are looking for a new friend, it's at pawplacement.org, check it out!
No we're not going to declaw her, actually she's very good about it, we had to sign a contract saying we would not declaw her, otherwise big fine and give her back, she is so sweet but apprehensive at this point, it's been less than one day and it's frikin freezing here! She's been sleeping under our bed (spent part of the night on the bed) but she has been eating and drinking and using her box, so I guess she's okay. She purrs loudly when you speak to her. What a sweetheart! We are very happy with her. She is a black and gold short-haired tortie, very pretty! I call her "Squeaky" as that is what she does when she meows. I am trying to train her to use her scratching post but she seems to like an area rug in the living room (which she cannot hurt). My God it's 930 and 47 degrees! And this is a desert! Windy too. At least I am not in Denver anymore, it's 10 degrees there right now and snowing!
cool! sounds like one sweet pussy!
hey teach her to use the computer. i'd like to talk to her here
does declawing hurt the cat? i have no idea... i mean why would they have that condition on the contract? (unless they are the only furniture sellers in your town)
it's like cutting off all your fingers at the first knuckle, how would you like it? And I found out it's illegal in most of Europe and S. America! I can teach the cat to use a post or pad, so far she only goes for the area rug in the living room, and she cannot hurt that. She's still getting acclimated, she's under our bed sleeping, but has come out to eat today so that's good. Vet said it can take a week, especially if she was a stray, and she was. It's really cold and windy today too, that is probably why she is sleeping so much. Other than that, she's great! Our digi camera broke so I can't post pics right now, but will soon....
