They're all stupid, don't just blame him, blame the ones that were allegedly heckling as well, instead of staying above, they also sunk to his level... talk about 'man up'!!
The issue behind the tirade was heckling of him. Without being there and hearing all the things that were said, it could be misleading on why he raged out. Now what he said probably goes back to either how he was raised or where he lived.
His outburst was uncalled for and so was the heckling.
Is Michael truly a racist? Who knows, but just because you call someone a name doesn't necessarily make you a racist, if that's the case then the heckler is a racist for calling Richards a cracker.
In any case, those guys all handled the issue poorly.
No, I'm not letting Michael off the hook on this one because of the heckling. I've gone to the Comedy store hundreds of times and hecklers are about as common as roadies to rock stars. They are always there and the sheer brilliance of some comedians really shines when dealing with hecklers. I've seen comedians flip the situation entirely with a heckler and make them look stupid as all hell and the audience will laugh their ass off!
Michael is not a standup comedian and his breakdown was just plain baaaaaaad. The heckler shares small responsibility but on the stage there, anything can happen and comedians know that.

I'm not saying that Richards should not be held accountable for what he said. My point is just because what he said, doesn't make him a racist. Yes hecklers are always there, but are you telling me just because they are there they don't bear some kind of responsibility?
What happened before the outburst, doesn't that have some bearing on the situtation? Hey we invaded Europe in WWII are we wrong, just because some nutty Austrian was running rampant has nothing to do with it?
I'm saying that we only have one side of the story right now and we need to have the full story before we start casting stones.

Watch the vid GZ. Heckling or not . . . there is NO excuse for that.
Just because he called them something doesn't mean he's a racist Hexx.
Again I feel he needs to be held accountable for what he said, but we have no idea what people said to get him that PO'd. His response was obviously a knee-jerk reaction to get the heckler as PO'd as possible. In this case he might have thought disparaging comments about the guy(s)' race would have done it.
He's been in show biz for quite some time. He's well over 50. He's been on the big stage since the early 90's and this is the first we've heard of him, so it could have been a once in a lifetime thing.
It's funny, but I don't recall this sort of uproar over Mel Gibson's comments this past year. With Mel this wasn't his first incident over racial matters, why is Richards being held to a different standard?

So what you are saying GZ, is that someone who shouts out in anger, to some African American members in the audience, if it were 50 years ago we would have hung you upside down and stuck forks up your ass, is not racist.
From what the news and radio were saying the hecklers were saying that he was not funny.
If it was only that, then I'd agree with most of the others. However I commonly see how things are misquoted or plain gotten wrong by the mainstream media.
One of the first things I learned in college is to gather information and make my own decisions. After seeing what is commonly in print, on TV, in the news I will always approach things this way.

Did he say anything else besides using the "n" word?
Yup. He started with saying 50 years ago the hecklers would have been strung up upside down and have forks stuck up their ass. Which is to say the forks would be stuck from the top down since the person would be upside down.......... it makes no sense what the hell he was saying with this comment..........I'm not sure what he was trying to get at.
The biggest thing happening 50 years ago was McCarthy's Communist witch hunts.

I'm just confused as to why such a big racist has this single outburst after 16+ years in the industry on center stage. Why only now?
What if the guy(s) in the audience were making racial epithets against him? Might not his first reaction in anger be one to use the same race card?
We need to have the full video of what the guy(s) were saying and doing to make an informed decision.
Regardless of what the hecklers said, the fact that he reacted the way he did shows his true colors GZ. Why does it matter what they said to him? If they made racial comments then they are racist too. No one is denying that. If someone comes at me with racial slurs, I am not gonna retaliate by shouting racial slurs back at them. And just because he has never had an outburst before doesn't prove a damn thing. All that means is that a camera was never around before. This may just be the first time he was caught. You don't say spew hate like that, with that kind of tone unless there is some deep seeded hate or feelings like that GZ. His true colors came flying out on that vid and he just fucked the rest of his career.
In my opinion even if they said racial slurs to him there is no need to come back with them. I have been called racial names before I do not turn around and say one back. I just don't think that way. My first reaction is to call someone a mother fucker or a bitch or an asshole but not racial slurs.
