Embellishes? He said if it was 50 years ago they would be hung upside down with forks up their asses. I don't think that's an embellishement. And I don't think it is possible for someone who claims not to be a racist to make such horrificly(sp) racist statements.

Exactly!!! And if you heard the anger in his voice when he said it, you know that he wasn't just fucking around. There is some deep seeded hate in that guy. And his so called apology on Letterman was pathetic. This guy is a RACIST!!

The issue behind the tirade was heckling of him. Without being there and hearing all the things that were said, it could be misleading on why he raged out. Now what he said probably goes back to either how he was raised or where he lived.
His outburst was uncalled for and so was the heckling.
Is Michael truly a racist? Who knows, but just because you call someone a name doesn't necessarily make you a racist, if that's the case then the heckler is a racist for calling Richards a cracker.
In any case, those guys all handled the issue poorly.
