Yeah...........played last week Friday, shot 46 on the front playing stupid shots and putting crappy. Tightened it up on the back and shot a 40. ESC means that I put that 86 in as an 85 for handicapping purposes.
Then I play on Sunday, shot a 46 front playing tight and smart. Started playing like a moron and shot a 40 on the back. Again with the 86.
Very frustrating. If I could have putted/chipped well for any two halves I would have cruised into the 70's. Haven't shot in the 70's in quite some time.

I'm assuming you've just started to play recently. It'll be a couple of years before your swing is pretty set. From there it's mostly chipping/pitching/putting and course management/shot selection. Both of these will have a major affect on your handicap.

well i play, but not a lot. Been playing for around 6 years, but only 4 rounds or less a year. I dont use woods, mostly hit with a 3 or 4 iron and can smack it over 300 yards easily. The problem is my short game is hell, and i cant putt. Otherwise i would be low 80's. Right now im in the mid to low 90's.
i can get the ball next to the green in 2-3 shots on par 5, but after that, its hell.

No way are you hitting any iron around 300 yards unless you are in a container yard with concrete pavement. Tiger hits his 2 iron 270. He's in the top 4 or 5 in distance on the Tour.
