decided i have too much debt and need to consolodate and just pay it off.
it's a lot but no biggie... once i have it all together - can just pay it...
but i got something in the mail... 7.99% blah blah.
i call it, they approve me, but try to slip 15% by me. i told them to shove it.
i then check my bank (commerce) it says that their rate it 12%
my question is.. arent these extremely high rates? what would you suggest doing??

wow.. it is saying that 12.5% is the going rate for a loan in my area. i've never had a normal loan (not car, credit card, etc).. but never knew the rates were that high...
i'm better off just keeping everything on my cards and just paying them off. none of them are above that rate.

interest rates for jus about everything are HIGH right now-- sucks ass

That is somewhat standard for an unsecured loan. You might try a balance transfer onto another credit card as a lot of companies offer 0% for the first year on balance transfers- Discover, Amex, Etc.

Discover is doing some special like that now... I just looked it up for a friend... don't remember if it is 6 or 12 month though. --- but hey ... every little bit helps - right ?!!
