There's been a rash of fruad there within the past month. I had 1 seller not send me the item, 2 buyers paying me with a fruadulent account, and several non-paying bidders. Thank god my ass was covered all those times.
Sellers, I suggest you wait at least a week after the payment clears before you send out the item, with signature confirmation to only confirmed and verified accounts.
Buyers, pay with your credit card via paypal, paypal doesn't offer much protection, but you get an extra layer of protection from your credit card, rather than paying via bank account.
How are they paying you fraudulently? If you require immediate payment via paypal, isn't the money transferred right away? Or are you accepting checks, etc.?
I ask in earnest as I am a seller.

Are you serious #2? That's a shame. Ebay needs to do something to minimize the fraud. I have 700+ positive rating on ebay but it has been a while since I was doing a lot of business on ebay. What do you buy/sell #2?? I used to buy/sell sports cards. I would buy collections and then break them up and sell individual cards. I used to make some pretty good money that way and I only had 1 negative experience with someone that didn't send me the card that I paid for. Luckily it was only like a $5 card/auction. Now when I do transact business on ebay, I only buy from someone with a high percentage of positives or if I am selling I will only accept bids from someone with a certain # of positive bids.

They are paying me via paypal with a confirm address, but unverified account. I always withdrawl the balance on my account imediately after payments and I don't ship the item out until it clears into my bank account, which takes about 2-3 days, sometime longer if it's a fairly new buyer.
So a few days past after the buyer had paid and I get an email from paypal saying the account used to pay me was unauthorized and a hold is place on the funds (paypal withdrawled the money back from my account), while they research it more. A few days past and Paypal says it is fruadulent and they ask me for more info about the transaction, since I didnt send the item yet, I didn't bother with it. I'm not sure how much protection I would've gotten if I had actually shipped the item out prior to getting the notice.
So now I have to go back to ebay and file a non-paying bidder and play the waiting game.
This is really getting on my nerves and I will probably stop ebaying after I get rid of all my stuff. I have much better luck shipping things overseas where I don't get any seller protection at all than I do shipping items to the U.S., go figure
Hex, I sell clothing and electronics.....and also stuff that I get tired of....

FF Paypal is notorious for having problems. I have heard a ton of stories about both buyers and sellers getting boned from Paypal when problems arose with buyers/sellers.

hey number2, according to paypal themselves, they claim that is safer to make transactions through your bank account rather than credit card.
anyways, i only buy from people who have about 1,000 score on their feedback...
They say that to encourage you not to use your credit card so they can make more money. Everytime you use your credit card, the merchant is charged a percentage of the total, it is the same with debit cards, but it is a lower percentage. When you use checks and or your bank account, paypal does not get charge at all....
