the one on the side is the one that bugs me the most.... other than that ... don't really care about adds as long as the site load fast.

I hate the side ads too! I don't have my screen opened all the way (trying not to get busted for the net at work!!) and these damn ads make me scroll to the right.

There's ads? Using firefox with adblock might be part of why I've not seen the delay you guys are talking about. Depending on how the ads are setup the remote server they're pulling from could easily be causing the delay.

I only see the Ebay ads to the left and every once in a while a horizontal ad in the middle.

I use Firefox too. Are there more?

Well here at work the ads are blocked the there's empty space...so yeah, I gotta scroll...D'oH!

It's so random too which is what drives me nuts. Sometimes it goes through just fine and then other times it takes literally 2 minutes to go through.

I do think it is related to al the ad links. For whatever it's worth, there was a period of time yesterday when it was moving faster and today is slow again. I find that when the Google ads and Ebay ads are only/primarily text based the pages load fast, but when the display ads come up (today was Comedy Central "Indescision") takes a long time to load the pages.

I, too, find the increase in ads annoying, especially the new left sidebar. Of course I recognize 6mt's need or desire to derive some revenue for what is a free site to its members, but it is seeming to have an impact on performance and satisfaction. I don't like having to scroll each page to the right to see the posts & pix.
