I had an Ipod mini for a while, then moved onto the Creative Vision:M.. The one thing that I miss from apple is the click wheel.. I haven't found another mp3 player that was as easy to control.. other than that, I believe Ipods are a bit overrated..
Anyways, I would take a look at the Sansa e260 player from Sandisk.. Has upgradable memory too.. think its miniSD card tho.. great option if you are just looking for a music player, it has video capability too (but not so great).. Prices are dropping on it from what Ive seen lately.. It was $220 when I was shopping 2 months ago, now its under $150 in some places..
I agree with the phone idea, I just recently upgraded my phone and will be transfering all of my mp3 files over to my phone's memory stick...it plays video as well as mp3's and operates on Windows Mobile 5 os.

... or do what i do, there's always a bar in the terminal... get popped, take 2 nyquil (can be sunstituted w/ vicoden, valium, roxicet, etc.)... get some earpluggs ($10 for the ones that stop ear pressure buildup) & i guarantee you won't even remember the flight, the baby, or the want of music... good to go!!
screw a MP3 player, get a phone with an expandable memory, MP3 player and radio like this one...
Whats the battery life on the cell phones, and how much power does listening to music consume? I know when Im on business travel my phone is down to its final bar by the time I get to my destination, and thats just using it to talk..
I'd also be careful about cellphone reliability.. Ive been through about one cellphone a year..

I charge my phone every other day from just calls and internet usage. I rarely ever use the MP3 feature, I listen to enough music during my 1 hr commmute to work every morning and afternoon. If I had to guess I would say about around 2 hours of battery life for MP3 usage.
I never had cellphone go out on me before, but I usually change up phones every year or 2. I even dropped my cell phone in the toilet once and it still worked.....
really? what i thought was they just didnt allow it. They said all cellphones off for the duration of the flight?
you're suppose to turn off all electronics during take off and landing, but they allow electronic devices to be on if it doesn't transmit any signals....I've played games on my celly on numerous flights and never had a problem.
How ironic I too needed such a toy during flight transients ... and found one.
Sony PSP
retails $199 new
It plays MP3 quite nicely and then some (movies, games, browser, etc.)
You sick bastard!!! My co-worker Mad Matt also suggested that. Then I started looking at games, expanded memory, movies, etc..... By the time I'm done I'm going to be sinking major $$$ into this.
I am staying away from the PSP route because then I'd have a PSP, XBox, PS2 and when the other stuff gets cheaper a 360 and PS3.
Bad Clint! Bad Clint!
