Default Holy shit, I'm happy to be alive

Before I start with the story, if you haven't told your family you love them yet today go do it. Even if you have do it again.

Its raining pretty hard, ditches flooding, yards flooding but nothing out of the ordinary (I've driven in much worse where the rain was so heavy 5 feet ahead was as far as you could see). Head out to church and I'm turning off HWY16 onto HWY540 going northbound. The light turns green and I turn onto the merge ramp and take it slow, about 40-50mph, since there's noone behind me or in the lanes on 540; I get to where I can merge over and just as I'm about to do so I just slide nearly straight sideways to the east and off the road. Hit the grass and I'm on the brakes trying to slow down and stop, and I keep on sliding northeast down the embankment. As I'm sliding the rear end comes around and I finally come to a stop, call Infiniti Roadside and get a wrecker on the way, take some pics from inside the car with my camera phone and just sit and chill listening to TCM - London till he gets there. My dad shows up just before the wrecker and I get out and we give things a look over and I missed a construction type fence post with the rear bumper by about 2 feet and a 4" sapling by about 3 feet with the front bumper. No visible body damage, snap a few more pics while waiting for the wrecker to get there. Guy shows up, we put the tow hook in and up toward the road the G went with me steering it away from the sapling.

After about 2 hours I'm back on the road and turning around back north so I can take the next off ramp. My dad and I goto the nearest car wash and rinse the body off and the undercarriage as best can be done so we can take a better look. No damage to the body, except maybe some scratches to the paint (haven't looked that closely yet as its still raining) and no visible damage to the undercarriage, just lots of grass and mud. Once back on the road it drove fine, no weird sounds, no unusual vibrations, alignment's fine.

Phelan... Glad to hear you're ok. And amazing you sustained no major damage... You got angels watching over you!

I've hydroplaned a few times but nothing as scary as yours... Thank God you're okay!!!

A lot of (probably stressed out) angels as this is the 2nd time I've gone offroad and not had any major damage.

Glad things turned out pretty good and you weren't injured. Good thing you were coming from church.

I'll take a look at lunch, I don't recall offhand but they're the stock 17" M+S. Fronts have 4K miles on them, 11K on the rear.
