What are your opinions on the Beretta Px4 series of pistols? It looks pretty nice and it's priced at about $500, which is pretty good. Any input? Thanks.
By the way, I think I'll probably go for a .40 cal.

Well, ask people who know for one Scott. Then I'd find a pistol that you're interested in and just start calling your local dealers. Otherwise, there aren't really ways to go about it as they usually don't publish retail prices for most guns. I'm thinking about picking up a pistol again since I haven't had one in a bit and want to start up the hobby again. I've been thinking about a Sig, but also saw that Beretta had a new model and wanted to get some info. Stick around this thread Scott, I'm sure the pistol experts will chime in soon enough.

How about you fullfil your childhood dream and practice that gun slinging.
Well, most people own and target shoot as a hobby. Why don't you try that out first, if that doesn't work try going postal. You have to become famous once in your life right?

Boy it's hard keeping up with all the latest guns that are released in the industry.
I've never heard of this gun, so I googled it and found something interesting.
Here's the actual gun's website - www.px4storm.com When I started reading this, the first thing that I noticed was this phrase, " the Px4 Storm uses an exclusive Beretta designed innovative locked-breech with rotating barrel system, the strongest action to date."
That's the exact same system of it's predecessor, the Beretta Cougar. The Beretta Cougar wasn't a bad gun, but it wasn't a hot seller. It was the first of the Berettas to feaure the locked-breech with rotating barrel system.
It seems as though Beretta decided to improve on that system and combine it with a polymer frame. Polymer frames are the trend nowadays. They're cheaper, reliable, wider, comfortable, and absorb the recoil better. The original Cougar had an all aluminum frame and couldn't hold as many rounds either. The Cougar also was made with a 4" barrel only.
Since I've never shot it, seen it or held it, I can't give a formal opinion to it. All I know is that it seems like a reliable gun with a polymer frame that can hold up to 17 rounds in the mag (and that's just .40 S&W). Furthermore, unlike other polymer framed guns, this one comes in DA/SA with a manual decocker and safety and an exposed hammer. I've always been partial to exposed hammers.
Here's some more information about the pistol that further supports my own observations:
world.guns.ru/handguns/hg149-e.htm
Best Advice I can give you: find someone who has it and see if he/she will let you shoot it.
Ohhh and I've bought my Sig Sauer at LA Guns on Sunset. See a lot of their used inventory here: www.laguns.com Nice shop and great website. You might also want to try Martin B Redding in Culver City on Washington Blvd.
As always, "thank you for your support". (quote by Bartles and James)
I've also read some good stuff about this pistol, but I haven't been able to see/shoot the thing. It seems like a good deal at around $500 retail. I've got like literally hundreds of .40 S&W rounds that my bro gave me. All A+ cartriges so I figured I could probably save a sh!t load of $ if I bought a .40. Based on price alone I think I'm leaning towards this pistol. I was thinking of the Sig 229, but I think this will probably be a better deal.

^^^You've got hundreds of .40 S&W lying around well then hook a brother up maaaaaaaan
Yeah gamma, as soon as this Oct. roles around I'll have some time on my hands. Then let's go to a range and I'll bring boxes of .40's. My bro literally has thousands of rounds, or at least hundreds. Remember he get's them all issued for free. That's why I want to either get a .40 or the sleeved down .357 for the Sig P229. He's got rounds coming out of his ass. All new in boxes too. I wish I still had my old AR15 commando because he got .223 rounds as well, but I don't know how much.
