I felt something crawling on my last night while i was sleeping, I brushed it off and then I realized it was bug. I turned on the lights, moved my mattress and saw THIS:
HOLY CRAP!!! I scooped it up with a Gatorade Bottle, sealed it in, and waited till this morning to look it up on wikipedia.
found out this is a house centipede, they don't eat food, harmless to humans and furniture. They eat Roaches, Bed Bugs, and other house hold insects. DAMN!! I hope it's still alive when I get home. I'm going to turn it into my guard bug. Train to chase roaches... yea!!!
I got a picture of one of these guys when I was in Okinawa. Their abdomens are anywhere from 8-10 inches long and they live in caves on the island. They also bite. It's apparently about as bad as a snakebite. It won't kill you, but stuff will start swelling up and turning black.
Location: ... i don't know!! 718, 808, 301 usually!!

... that thing still has my skin crawling!!
it's been over an hour now!!
Solo - that centipede is a lot different than the ones we get here. It's much leggy-er and it's a lot lighter in color.......ours are a dark rust/maroon color.
Navy - I know a guy who grew up in Okinawa. He said those things would actually drop on you from the ceiling of the caves.
Now centipede bites. Yup they hurt and they do inject some stuff into you. Unless you are allergic to it, it'll be like two bad bee stings (remember their fangs are a lot bigger than a bee's stinger). For me it's a local area that swells up (doesn't turn black, just a bit purplish), itches like crazy too. Anyhow step on them by mistake and they bite you.
Personally when I see them I try to kill them. I hate centipedes.
