Funny joke
A bunch of miners are hard at work digging a ditch on a 100+ degree summer day. A few of them look up to see their supervisor in his air conditioned trailer high up on a ridge overseeing the work. So a number of the workers begin to complain about why their supervisor get’s to sit in an air conditioned office while they toil away in the hot sun. One of the miners begins to say that he could do what the supervisor does any day of the week and that he should be the one sitting in that nice cold office. The others urge him on to go talk to the supervisor to see if he can have his job. So the angry miner takes up their offer and begins his climb up to the ridge.
He get’s to the supervisor’s office and walks inside. He first asks why it is that the miners are hard at work in the hot sun while the supervisor sits inside his cool office. The supervisor tells the miner to follow him outside. The supervisor walks the miner to a big tree outside of his office and places his hand on the tree trunk. He tells the miner to hit his hand as hard as he possibly can. The miner, at first, refuses saying that he’ll be fired it he hits the supervisor. The supervisor assures him that no such thing will happen and encourages him to hit his hand. The miner finally agrees. He winds up and tries to hit the supervisor’s hand as hard as he possibly can. Right before the miner is about to strike his hand, the supervisor moves his hand slightly to the right allowing the miner to strike the tree trunk with a loud thump. The miner jumps up and down yelling various profanities and clutching his fist. When he calms down enough, he asks the supervisor why he had moved his hand. The supervisor tells the minor, “that’s ingenuity”, and that’s why I’m in the cool office while you’re in the hot sun digging. The miner as if he’d come to an epiphany begins to walk back down into the dig site.
As the miner approaches, the remaining miners begin to ask him what had happened. The miner, after having learned the reason why, begins to tell the other miners that he knows why the supervisor get’s to sit in an air conditioned room while they are hard at work out in the hot sun. Then the miner proceeds to show the other miners the reason why. He puts his hand on his face and tells the other miners to hit his hand as hard as they can.
