reminds me of my scuba days. I can understand the climbing down the cliff thing. We used to do that at Christmas tree (Palos Verdes) with all the gear. Challenging.

duuude. leon you aint kidding, i saw the vid where they extract the worms one by one out of your stomach lining. i always freeze my fish for a week before i sashimi them.
fast forward, i used to scuba dive xmas tree from the shore as well, ive been there a few times this year when i first started freediving.

i did a side research project in my nematology class during undergrad where i extracted anisakis from freshly caught mackerel and incubated them in pepsin, hcl to mimic the environment of the stomach. the control group thrived but when i added wasabi in the mix, the worms either died or exhibited very slow motiliy...i guess there's a reason, the japanese use wasabi in their sushi. btw, i once recorded 150+ worms on one mackerel.
^^^yep...that would be hepatitis a...and you can pretty much get that from contaminated foods in general not just seafood. it's fecal/oral route of transmission...so no ass eating a person infected with hep a.
