Smoke if you go with ethnic majority, then by the same argument every city mentioned will still only have one ethnic majority. What are you asking for? Each Hawaiian island will have a different ethnic percentage. Oahu will have a much higher percentage of African Americans, Hispanics, Caucasions because of the business hub on this island and the military presence. The percentage on Maui will be much different because of farming. The population on Niihau is going to be almost exclusively Hawaiian (with Hawaiian as the primary language). The islands are all different.

omg you were the one that said each island has a majority for ethniticity, so what's the problem now?
all you have to do is say: island 1: blacks, island 2: whites, island 3: hispanics. etc etc.
besides, ethniticity isnt even the correct way to analyze it, you're suppose to distinguish every nationality separately. you cannot possibly assume french are the same thing as americans because they're both white!
my posts showed different countries, not ethniticities, that's what im mostly interested. but since you stated each island had a majority of diverse ethniticity (and not native hawaiian as i assumed), then i was intrigued by this notion and asked for further insight.

Each island does have a majority ethic population Smoke. 8 island, 8 majorities. Let's do some math..........
LA - 1 majority
NY - 1 majority
Miami - 1 majority
Chicago - 1 majority
Boston - 1 majority
Etc - 1 majority

What are you talking about? I said each island has a different ethnic background makeup.........they can't all be the same. Differing countries is not a good way to look at peoples Smoke, look at the olympic athletes who whore themselves out...........you got some Kenyan running for Belgium or whatever.
Now I will try to help you out on the ethnic backgrounds because this isn't about legal immigrants who have yet to get their american citizenship. By your argument you should list the majority of persons in Miami as American. Also I've never heard of the country Black.
If you truly want an idea of how diverse Hawaii is, look at the contestants we send into beauty pageants. The contestants are caucasian, Japanese, Chinese, German, Fillipina, etc........ and it's all the same girl, it isn't 10 different women.

see, that's all i wanted to hear, but all those nationalities are very well represented in miami, and im pretty sure LA as well... cant really say NY.
Smoke we don't see a lot of the european, specifically the eastern european ethnic backgrounds, but we get a ton of guys from the Pacific that you don't see either, so in the end I'd be very surprised if we came out with less people even though your population is higher. There are just plain more population feeding into the US through this end that even Miami.
It would be interesting to get an accurate census though.

you get more in numbers than we do, but dont think that there isnt a high population of filipinos, japanese, and chinese here in S. Fl.; but all this talk is useless since there doesnt exist a "most diverse city" report.
The trouble with the census is that I wonder if it's all that accurate. I've never had to respond to one, and I doubt it tracks accurately the movement of people since it's only performed every so-many years. No tracking of illegals too.

census isnt accurate, i see it all the time down here in miami. hispanics being regarded as caucasian, or others as blacks. african americans being confused for hispanics. I know this because i use to see it happen all the time on state tests that we would take every year.
Some people get offended by hispanic #2 but I could really care less. This world is too damn PC. I don't waste my time getting offended over something like that.
