when i read/hear crap like this, i get REALLY pissed. here's a post i put up in my fantasy baseball league. i'll preface it by saying i love baseball more than anyone i know, and i know my baseball history very well...
if you know your shit, you know AT LEAST 50% of the guys in the hall cheated. there's been cheating in baseball since baseball has been played. babe ruth wasn't an angel, and neither were the guys who spit on baseballs, had sand paper in their gloves, gambled(pete rose wasn't the only one), threw games, tipped pitches, etc, but they're all american heros and great baseball players?? i believe i heard peter gammons say last week that if the hall only contained the guys that were completely clean and honest throughout their entire careers, the hall would be a very empty place. check your history. he's right.
if barry bonds were mark mcgwire would there be the same fuss? barry isn't the great white hope that people would like to see break that record. he has told the media, since he was very young in the game because of the things that happened to his father, that they can go fuck themselves. he's never given the public what they want, and now, they wanna fry his ass for it? now that he's breaking the old great white hope's record we want to crucify him? bullshit if you ask me.
mark mcgwire is sitting at home right now, after straight up lying to congress multiple times, and nothing's happening to him. i wonder why? i think, although impossible to test, that if barry were completely clean steroids-wise throughout his entire career, the media and fans who really don't want to see that record fall to someone who looks like him would still try to find shit to bring him down.
actually, the "record" isn't even a record.
why is the media still licking babe ruth's decomposed asshole if he's not even the one holding the record? why don't more people talk about aaron's 755 instead of ruth's 715? one could easily argue that as time's passed, the level of competition has risen. if that's true, the guys aaron faced were much better than the guys ruth faced. that would give his 755 even more credibility than ruth's 715, wouldn't it? ask a little kid who's hit the most homeruns in baseball history. i'll bet you he says babe ruth. WHY???
one guy breaks a record and he gets a pepsi commercial. another guy breaks the same record a year later, and he gets investigated by the feds. both's bodies changed drastically over their careers. both probably took the same shit. one doesn't catch the hell the other does 'cause "he works so hard, and he's such a great family man, role model, and community leader." the other catches a ton of shit 'cause he gives the media nothing, and he's so hardened to the fans that he gives them nothing as well. steroids aside, the powers that be likely wouldn't want a guy with the personality of a rock to break a record of this one's magnitude.
i'll leave you with this. apply the concepts i'm speaking of here to that duke shit that's going on. if the duke laccrosse team was the florida state football team, and the girl was a white stripper, how many florida state football players do you think would be in jail right now? how many times do you think you'd see ANYONE on ANY news channel say, "she's lying. she can't be credible. she's a stripper. bla bla bla..." i'll save you the trouble...ZERO. american justice 101.
