So, it's OK to cheat (well at least if you don't get caught). 2 wrongs make a right, etc.

More power to you for loving the game even though by your own admission it is filled with lying, cheating, gambling, and other forms of deception. I personally can't get behind celebrating "accomplishments" founded on deceipt and cheating versus extraordinary efforts of atheletes who uphold the sports and their premises and can set an example for those of us who can be tempted to succumb to the easier way through life.

baseball players, at the least, have been taking amphetemines for years. it just finally got banned. also, he technically wasn't cheating when he was SUPPOSEDLY juicing. i'm sorry guys. this is america. i don't care how guilty he looks, nothing's been proven. i've yet to see a positive test anywhere. have you guys?

this is a straight up witch hunt. there are a number of people in the country that wouldn't want him to break that record if he were clean as a whistle. there's definitely a racial element to it. there was a racial element to the record when aaron broke it too. why is no one all over mcgwire? why can't anyone answer that? is the record itself more important than the social ramifications of kids watching their heros juice up? i don't think it is, but it definitely seems like congress, the mlb, and a lot of other people do.

Okay there are people in every sport that take steroids. I know people that are constantly on a cycle to get big. Especially now that summer is coming. Girls go on diets and guys go on the juice.

I hope he does beat the record.

sosa got his. mcgwire left baseball. sosa was kicked out. there wasn't a team in baseball that would take him. there are enough washed up guys in the majors to warrant a team giving sosa a contract. mcgwire wasn't ever booed or heckled, nor was he kicked out. i went to a couple o's games last year. i don't like sosa, but i definitely felt bad for him there. he couldn't even catch a break in his home ballpark.

look at what happened to palmeiro. he got booted too, and along the way, he was drug through the mud. i'm still not backing off of my racial argument. don't get me wrong, i'm far from racist. i'm just being real.

do you honestly think that the government would lay off bonds if he retired from baseball today? are you living in the same america that i am? did you not just see one of the kennedys get pulled over for being f'ed up, driving around the capitol(he was right across the street from a lot of major stuff when he did that), and running into barriers get a ride home from the cops with no ticket, sobriety test, and an inaccurate police report? did you not see the same police force do the exact opposite for a black congresswoman for an offense that wasn't nearly as severe as what kennedy did? the 50's weren't that long ago #2.

We came a long way since the 50's....yes, racism still exists, and it always will....but you cannot use the race card for every issue that you think is unfair...Bonds is not being screwed over because he is black.....

He has always been arrogrant towards the press and his trainer/dr admitted to giving bonds steroids. You cannot expect to tell people to go screw themselves and not expect them to get back at you every chance they can....everytime you see him on TV, they always show a clip of him acting like a big sour puss, its not becase he's black, its cause his attitude sucks....

The kennedy guy is a kennedy, just like OJ is OJ.....

the race card applies in durham, nc, washington, d.c., and in san francisco.

show me a positive test. if your best friend shows up at your job, and he tells your boss he saw you with a 6ft bong in your hands the night before, should you be fired?

you think we've come a long way, but i'd argue that the progress you percieve is a lot less than the progress we've actually made. most minorities, including blacks, hispanics and women in particular, would probably agree.

I think that Barry couldn't carry the Babe's jock. What Barry has done, he has done with the aid of performance enhancing drugs and modern medicine. He's a jackass.

ok. let's say he has juiced. take away all of the stats he's accumulated since his supposed juicing genesis. he'd still be one of the best of all time.

someone please answer this...

how good would jordan have looked if he played in the CBA? what good would 50 ppg do him if he's doing it against scrubs?

how good would babe have been if he played against the blacks and hispancs that were forcefully banned from the game?

If they tested every pro athlete the percentage of them using performance einhancing drugs would be astronomical. Every sport too not just baseball. You really think those football players are just naturally big? Or the NBA?

What are we talkin' about? baseball? steroids in sports? racism? all of the above? wow, now I'm interested. I'll touch on all issues.

When BBonds breaks Hank Aaron's record, all the power to him and I really don't care for baseball?

Juice in Baseball is as common as juice in football and steroids weren't banned in the NFL until the early 80s. Everyone took them back then and way before then. I can't necessarily knock athletes for taking performance enhancing drugs to aid their careers - you know why? Because that's what we want. On Sunday, I want my Raider line to kill the opponents qb or rb. I want them to decleat whoever is back there. I want them to feel pain. I want to see the 2,000 yard rusher, I want the RB to look like Earl Campbell plowing through the lines!

Do you really think these guys could survive and keep up with the train wreck collisions in pro sports without performance enhancing drugs? How could a RB get the shit beat out of him and still get 2,000 yards a season? You think cortizone is the only thing they inject? Do you really think it's just the better off-season physical therapy that keeps these guys healthier?

What about pro wrestlers that kids adore and view as walking Gods? Hulk Hogan, the Rock, my old school favorite Ultimate Warrior? It's a fact that they juiced up, why don't we question them? There's a hall of fame for wrestlers now, is the fact that a professional wrestler juices up just quietly understood and unmentioned?

Back to Baseball, I'm still in awe of the Babe. So many records have withered the test of time when baseball was still in its infancy. I give the man his credit. But I think UT is right, Hank Aaron is the man and many people in this country didn't want H.Aaron to break his record because he was Black. Same types of people didn't like Jack Johnson, Muhammad Ali, Jim Brown, Jackie Robinson, Kareem Abdul Jabbar or Hank Aaron no matter how good they were in the game.

The colored athlete in America cannot be pompous, arrogant, and self-proclaimed greatest. He's got to be the Joe Lewis or the Michael Jordan. Good smile, friendly, the patriot, humble, attractive and out going. If he's different, he can't be a" bad boy" like White athletes and cannot be adored or a spokesmen and/or role models for kids.

For example, I'm still in awe that Kobe was 4th in the MVP voting and I believe it's because he's not liked. He's deemed as arrogant, a womanizer, and a spoiled sport. His talent was overwhelming and I do believe that he's the greatest basketball player playing right now, but 4th in the overall voting? Give me a break.
