Looks like there are a few opportunities with regards to your diet. Here's a link that gives a good overview of how to approach your diet given your goals:
i use to have a real nice stomach, but when i got my gastritis shit going, i couldnt work out anymore. after months of not working out, i lost much of what i had gained on my lower abdomin. which is the hardest to work out
im slowly but surely working out again, but i do not have the tolerance i had before.
BTW MSB, i do this techinique that requires your feet to be together, you stand upright, and you swing your upper body side to side as if you're tyring to touch the side of your knee. do this for a few reps of 50, and you will see a difference. you wont notice the effect immediately, but after a few days, you'll already start to see some improvement. not to mention, you'll feel the burn in your love handles.
i could consider a switch to green tea... but if i put cream and sugar in it - is it really any better??
does anyone know technically how bad coffee is?
I don't think coffee is THAT bad for you unless you are consuming really large quantities throughout the day. It probably depends on caffeinated vs decaf as well. I actually switched to half and half of each to cut down on caffeine in the morning. You should be fine.
Coffee will be bad one week and good the next, 'researchers' are always releasing new findings on it that go back and forth. So long as you don't have a physical dependance on it I don't see any harm in it.

Feb. 21, 2003 -- How do you take your java -- cream, flavored, whipped, topped? All those add-ons are piling up the calories. Coffee black may be boring. But it could save you up to 600 calories your waistline doesn't need.
"Depending on the kind of milk and ingredients used, a large latte can contain from 250 calories to as many as 570 calories," according to information from the February issue of the Mayo Clinic Women's HealthSource. "And those delicious chocolate or blended coffee drinks you love also can add up to 500 calories or more."
Coffee in its "purest" form has no fat and no calories whatsoever. But here come the shockers:
Two tablespoons of flavored nondairy creamer (liquid) adds 80 calories and four grams of fat (as much as a pat of butter).
Two tablespoons of flavored syrup adds 80 calories, but no fat.
One tablespoon of cream adds 50 calories and six grams of fat.
One tablespoon of liquid plain nondairy creamer has 25 calories and two grams of fat.
One tablespoon of half-and-half has 20 calories and two grams of fat.
Cappuccino (espresso, steamed milk, foamed milk) has seven grams of fat and 137 calories when whole milk is used; four grams of fat and 109 calories with low-fat milk; just under a half gram of fat and 80 calories with fat-free milk.
Coffee latte (espresso and steamed milk) has 212 calories and nine grams of fat when whole milk is used; 167 calories and six grams of fat with low-fat milk; 123 calories and 0.6 grams fat with fat-free milk.
Coffee mocha with whole milk (espresso, cocoa, steamed milk) has 340 calories and 20 grams of fat with whipped cream; 260 calories with six grams of fat without whipped cream.
Coffee mocha with low-fat milk has 302 calories and 16 grams of fat with whipped cream; 220 calories and six grams of fat minus whipped cream.
Coffee mocha with fat-free milk has 264 calories and 11 grams of fat with whipped cream and 182 calories; two grams of fat without whipped cream.
Here are a few suggestions:
Choose the smallest size cup, either eight or 12 ounces. This can save you up to 110 calories.
Ask that your beverage be made with fat-free milk instead of whole milk. This saves you about 80 calories and up to eight grams of fat.
Use a sugar substitute instead of real sugar. One teaspoon of sugar is 15 calories.
Order coffee without whipped cream, flavored syrup, chocolate or candy pieces.

all these recommendations you are getting seems pretty hard to get all toned up...i've been working out 3 times/week for the past 3 months and barely got any better, my arms got a little bit more define, but not where i want it to be, i'm happy with my chest and I just can't seem to lose the gut.....
But I found a simple solution, when I go down to the shore, I'll make sure someone fat comes with me to make me look better...
luckily, i don't drink the specialty coffee drinks as much... just rarely. it's mostly plain coffee with some cream and sugar.
but did that say 'black coffee' is completely healthy?? wow.
certain places have good coffee by itself (wawa) but most are bad (shows how good their coffee is... (dunkin donuts is horrible)

when i get wawa coffee....I usually fill a quarter of the cup with the french vanilla from the cappucino machine and the rest with dark roast coffee.....the cappucino takes care or any need for cream or sugar....
and its nonfat milk wit my caramel machiado at startbucks........

it does man. trust me, ive had to burn them off recently for the reason i had stated earlier. perhaps it just works better for some than others. give it a try, for a week without interruptions, and lets see the results.
