I saw something about this guy on 60 minutes or something recently (maybe a segment on Sportscenter). He's a national hero in Russia and supposedly a teddy bear when he's not in the ring. BUT there was a story floating around how his wife went to pick up their kid at school or something, she was a real bitch the parking attendant, complained to her husband and he proceeded to go down to the school and beat the poor guy (older man, too) to a pulp.
Actually, now that I think about it, I wanna say it was a newspaper article. What really caught my attention was they compared his physical stats to other prominent heavyweights and his reach was only like 4 inches or so longer than Muhammad Ali who was a full foot shorter.
I think that guys arm span is a bit of an advantage when he fights.
Could be if he's fast enough and smart enough to take advantage of it. If not a smaller fighter will slip inside and cut the tree down. His arms being so long, it could be very difficult for him to catch a smaller and quicker man.
Boxing is all about styles. Styles make fights.

GZ, I think you played too much Mike Tysons punchout as a kid.
Heh.. I know what you mean about a smaller quicker guy, but if the little guy has to practicly jump to get a clean shot at this guys face, that basicly eliminates any chance of an uppercut hitting him anywhere besides in the gut, and the big guy can really use gravity to his advantage when punching downward on the small guy. I'm thinking that the whole little guy thing might help out more in UFC where you can do damage below the belt with kicks and stuff... at least in the case of such an extremely tall and big guy like this, and assuming he has a decent amount of talent.

Apparently the charges have been filed and the system is at work. I wanna say the guy was 62.

Back in the 90's there was a boxer by the name of Mike (?) “The Giant” White. Something like 6’-10”. He was beaten by smaller fighters. I’m talking guys that were around 200#. This was before seeing the abundance of super heavyweights in the past 5 years or so.
Without seeing the Russian fight, we have no idea of his speed, skill level, conditioning, and desire. We have no idea of the quality of opponent he’s faced. Of the pretty big guys in the last 15 years, only Lewis was any good for any length of time.
If it was only size and decent talent there would have been a ton of good big fighters.

That's good to hear. Based on the story I saw, the older guy did nothing wrong and never had a chance.
He definitely never had a chance, that's for damn sure.

Nope, I actually think I got shorter over the years. However, I still bench twice my weight. And people that shit on shorter people fook ya mofos. Have you seen UFC? Matt Hughes is like my hieght and he fooks up fighter over 6" tall. So like Napoleon said, "being tall is handy but Napoleon is great."
OH and on a side note, what do you think about this, a UFC champion vs a boxing champion in the ring and anything goes. I think the UFC champion would win over boxing because the UFC has more dimensions than boxing.
Anyone decent from the UFC/Pride/KOTC would a boxer. It would probably be a somewhat boring fight though cause the smart money would be to take them down and end quickly.
Did you hear about the Hughes vs. Gracie fight? That should be interesting.

I don't know. If you took a world class boxer (who had a wrestling) and taught him some ground defense it might be pretty interesting. Chuck is the best light heavyweight in the world and he's predominantly a striker (although he's got a wrestling background).
Again it's a matter of styles. Styles make for interesting fights.
