You just took the pian!?!?!?! Damn, there is no way I could do that. I was in such horrible pain that w/o the Vicodin to take the edge off, I would practically be in tears it hurt so bad. I got through it though and I would not want to wish a herniated disc on my worse enemy. It is without a doubt the worst pain I have ever experienced in my life. I was bedridden (sp?) for about 2-3 months before I was even able to start moving around again and living a somewhat normal life. Luckily I didn't have a gf at the time cuz there is no way I would have been able to take care of her needs!
Jeeze... I am nothing like this.....I only get near tears if I m sitting for more than 15 min or so... but as long as I get up for a few min, it seems to reset the clock...
The hot tub yesterday afternoon helped alot, until I got out that is....you all have scared the shit out o me though. I never had a bad back before (my knees are those of an arthritic 65 yr old, but I have years of being a competetive high jumper and hurdler to thank for that one!)....not cool
If you think you might have a bulging disk, not totally herniated then you could try naproxin as an antiinflamatory. Do you own a heat pad or ice pack - alternating is suggested though I only use heat because I like heat. Do you feel spasms in any part of your back muscles?
Not sure what a spasm feels like, so I think no- it only shoots pain if I try to movee to quick. It really hurts when I engage the muscles- when someone else bends my leg for me, doesn't hurt so much.
Have one of those therma packs on now....helps a bit.. I too hate ice
Don't let us scare you...but get to the doctor as soon as you can. Lower back herniated disks are typically less painful than where mine was around C5 in the neck. I had pain up there for about 5 years and one day it popped and I continued to go and push myself until I was rushed to the hospital practically in shock and my heart rate was through the roof - shove a needle in my neck, please! They didn't know for sure it was a disk out for 45 days...the pain pills and other didn't really stop the pain but at least I could have enough relief to sleep a few hours per day and that is all I needed considering I have addiction issues and cannot use long term under any circumstance.
Here is the thing though and why I say be careful...I pushed myself as I tend to do after it happened and I was misdiagnosed by the urgent care because it took awhile for the numbness and pain to move into my left arm and hand. I am left handed and I couldn't feel it for months but not at first so the main diagnostic tool pain and numbness in extremities was missing at first. I just say be very careful until you know for sure if you have a muscle strain or a disk out. Some dumb ass thought I had arthritis and told me to put icy hot on my back and so I never had used it and threw it on there...not a smart move to say the least.

If you can't sit for more than 15 minutes I am almost sure that it is a disc. Remember I had 2 herniated discs and a third bulging disk so my situation was very extreme. Sitting down builds up pressure in the damaged disc which is protruding (sp?) and pushing against the nerve in your spine. The longer you sit, the longer it is pushing on the nerve causing the pain to build up. As my back got better, I would be able to sit for longer periods of time before I would either have to lay down or get up and walk around to relieve the pressure/pain. Bottom line . . . go get checked out but it definitely sounds like a disc.
Hey if it makes my back better, I am game!!
here ya go...
now fix my damn back!
now the question is i ply there or you ply here
seriously,i have a jar of what they called "medicine wine" it is white wine with some kind of exotic creatures and some roots of chinese medicine plants which i don't know about.it is very old around 40years i've been told.anyway for injuries like ankle sprain,Tendonitis, hamstrings, back pain or even broken bones ect...all you have to do is give it a good rub using that wine, somehow after the several massages you can feel it healing.work like a charm for me.
you can go to china town and ask for it in one of those chinese clinics ?

hehe I am sure heroin works too, but I might resist that one!
No a few years of living in China is enough to mae me wary of anything involving snakes, rice wine, and guarenteed pain relief
